We have an exciting opportunity here at Nidec to join us as a Field Technician within our Power division. As a Field Technician, you will be responsible for performing electrical and mechanical operations for our customers and when you are not on-site, you will also manage projects and key tasks within the service department.


Key responsibilities:

  • Immediate response to any urgent request for on-site support
  • Maintenance of equipment for our customers, and resolution of any electrical or mechanical breakdowns
  • On-site investigations following a breakdown to identify the root cause of the failure
  • Strict compliance with legal Health and Safety Regulations and Nidec policy
  • On-call assistance for customers via telephone
  • Management of own work-related administration, such as on-site reports and travel arrangements


When acting as Project Leader, your main duties will include:


  • Communicating with the sales department to resolve customer issues
  • Co-ordinating with the sales administration team to ensure internal orders of parts for repair are processed correctly
  • Ensuring that projects are carried out in line with our Health and Safety policies, taking into account geographical risk and customer feedback
  • Liaising with the sales and sales administration team to generate further sales opportunities


Travel Requirements:

This role requires frequent travel within the UK and Ireland.


Qualifications & Experience:


  • ONC or BTEC in a relevant field, such as electrical engineering
  • Experience in maintaining rotating electrical machines
  • Strong understanding of electrotechnical principles,
  • Strong understanding of the operation and maintenance of electric motors and alternators
  • Good communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
  • Results-oriented, and focused on objectives
  • Ability to provide excellent service to customers whilst navigating potentially difficult situations
