One of our key clients specialising in developing technologies for the eVTOL & Aerospace sector is hiring a Development Engineer with an Electrical & Mechanical background to work for their business based in Buckinghamshire.
The company are expanding rapidly and are at the forefront of the technologies across this sector.
The ideal applicant will have experience in the Automotive / EV / eVTOL industries having had experience working on HV (High-Voltage) Systems and development builds. The successful candidate will be responsible for testing and validating both electrical and mechanical systems, contributing to the development of cutting-edge technologies in EV and eVTOL platforms. This role involves hands-on testing, data analysis, and collaboration with engineering teams to ensure high performance, reliability, and safety.
Role: Development Engineer
Location: Buckinghamshire
Working Arrangement: 5 days a week on site
Salary: £45k to £60k (Negotiable)
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, plan, and execute development tests for electrical and mechanical components and systems in EV and eVTOL platforms.
- Perform comprehensive validation and performance tests on motors, batteries, power electronics, propulsion systems, and mechanical subsystems.
- Analyze test data and provide detailed reports to highlight performance trends, system behaviors, and potential areas for improvement.
- Collaborate closely with design and engineering teams to refine systems based on test results and ensure they meet design specifications and regulatory standards.
- Develop and maintain testing procedures, including test setup, instrumentation, and calibration, to ensure consistent and reliable results.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues during testing, providing real-time solutions to optimize system performance.
- Work within safety protocols and ensure all tests meet the required health and safety standards for high-voltage and mechanical systems.
- Support the development and optimization of test rigs and equipment.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance test methods, accuracy, and efficiency.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in testing and validating electrical and mechanical systems, ideally within the automotive, EV, aerospace, or eVTOL sectors.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems (motors, power electronics, batteries, HV systems) and mechanical systems (propulsion, actuators, structures) used in advanced vehicle platforms.
- Proficiency in test instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and analysis tools.
- Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and specifications.
- Solid problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to resolving test issues.
- Degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Familiarity with safety procedures for working with high-voltage and mechanical systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce clear, concise test reports.
Desirable
- Experience working in the EV or eVTOL industries.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for electrical and mechanical systems in vehicle platforms.
- Familiarity with automation tools for testing and data analysis.
