The Role
We are looking for a self-motivated and highly organized individual to work on our Underwriting team as an Associate Underwriter. In this role, you will report to the Director of underwriting and be responsible for underwriting and servicing a book of business for individual healthcare professionals, facilities, and clinics within their assigned territory. You will also support the underwriting team with gathering required underwriting information, file documentation, and communication. You will have the ability to evaluate and price risk within company guidelines. It also requires a strong focus on excellent customer service.

The Role
We are looking for a self-motivated and highly organized individual to work on our Underwriting team as an Associate Underwriter. You will also support the underwriting team with gathering required underwriting information, file documentation, and communication. Key Result Areas
Underwriting accounts and policy maintenance
- Obtain appropriate applications and required additional information
- Analyze risk exposure(s) through submission materials, including loss analysis evaluation
- Determine appropriate rating classification, rates and final pricing
- Perform experience rating with company approved filings
- Work closely with clients, agents and client acquisition, providing information and updates
- Assist underwriters by reviewing new business and renewal accounts
- Underwrite profitable new and renewal accounts and services accounts as assigned
- Prepare transaction instructions for processing team
- Input data into core underwriting systems
- Adhere to individual letter of authority
- Underwrite to meet profitability goals
- Provide clients, agents and brokers with policy information, quotes and different coverage options as requested
- Build and maintain relationships with agents, brokers and clients in territory
- Serve as the team's first point of contact for all team accounts
- Serve as back-up team coordinator to ensure team's book of business is adequately and proactively supported
- Obtain appropriate documentation for new policies, renewals and endorsements
- Provide efficient and timely responses to internal and external clients
- Obtain and provide necessary information regarding prospective and existing policy holders. This includes applications and other information needed to properly assess risk.
- Work with Customer Acquisition on new business applications and renewals
- Communicate with Claim on current claim activity
- Consult with Patient Risk and Safety on risk management practices
- Assist Finance in communicating premium changes and collecting unpaid/past due premiums
- Utilize automatic renewal system where appropriate and ensure the business is serviced effectively and proactively
- Identify system issues and partners with IT for completion
- Assist with testing for upgrades/changes in Oasis and OnBase
- Strong analytical skills and ability to use analysis to make well-reasoned decisions
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to perform with moderate levels of supervision
- Ability to think critically and resolve problems of varying complexity
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to handle stressful situations professionally
- Team player
- HS Diploma required
- Bachelor's degree in business administration preferred
- Two to three years of Insurance knowledge or experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication style
- Willingness to work mountain time zone work hours
