The Senior Power BI Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining business intelligence solutions using the Microsoft BI stack.
This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design data models, and implement scalable BI solutions that drive data-driven decisions and support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and develop end-to-end business intelligence solutions using Microsoft BI stack.
- Define data models, metrics, and KPIs for reporting and analytics.
- Design and optimize scalable multidimensional and tabular data models using SSAS for interactive analytics and reporting.
- Develop intuitive and interactive Power BI reports and dashboards, utilizing DAX, Power Query, and SQL for data modeling and presentation.
- Manage project timelines, priorities, and deliverables.
- Collaborate cross-departmentally to complete projects and gather requirements.
- Provide best practices guidance and training for BI initiatives within the organization.
- Mentor junior team members on BI development best practices.
- Monitor and manage Power BI service capacities to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and fine-tune BI solutions (e.g., reports, cubes, semantic models) for reliability and efficiency.
- Define BI framework models, semantic layers, and metadata repositories for data governance.
- Document data warehouse and metadata contents and handle escalation for Power BI-related issues.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 5-7 years of experience designing and developing business intelligence solutions using Microsoft BI stack
- Proficiency in SQL, SSAS/AAS tabular modeling, DAX, Power BI, Power BI Gateway, and Power BI Services
- Experience working with Azure-based BI solutions, including Azure SQL, Synapse, Data Factory, Blob Storages, and Data Lakes
- Strong hands-on experience with ETL development, data integration, and an in-depth understanding of multidimensional and tabular data modeling using SSAS
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with strong collaboration abilities
- Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft Certified Data Analyst Associate, Azure Data Engineer Associate, or Power BI certifications
- Experience with PowerShell, Git for version control and deployment
- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Python coding, Databricks, and Snowflake
- Microsoft Certified Data Analyst Associate, Microsoft Certified Azure Data Engineer Associate, Microsoft Certified Power BI
