Senior Backend / Ruby on Rails Developer (Remote - EU Based)

AREO, founded in January 2023, is a young software startup that specialises in the development of innovative solutions for supermarkets and grocery retail stores. Our groundbreaking B2B SaaS platform optimizes workflows for employees by providing real-time access to inventory, product information, and customer inquiries. We cater to large supermarket chains in Germany and across the EU.

We are on the lookout for a Senior Backend Developer who has a knack for crafting elegant, well-documented, and easily readable code while emphasizing comprehensive testing.

Responsibilities:

1. Write high-quality, well-documented, easily readable, and thoroughly tested code.

2. Plan, build, and maintain high-performance Rails applications

3. Contribute to the ideation and execution of new features to keep our platform at the cutting edge.

4. Collaborate with our CTO / CEO on our roadmap, delivering on time and to spec.

Key Qualifications:

1. Must be located within the European Union.

2. A minimum of 8 years of Backend development experience – you're a seasoned pro!

3. Experience with frontend development and building beautiful and functional UIs is a huge plus.

4. Proficiency in English and at least basic knowledge of German.

5. Broad experience with common developer tools such as Git, GitHub, Postgres, Redis, Bash and Docker.

6. Proven experience in early-stage startups, preferably in a leadership position.

7. In-depth understanding of API design principles, patterns, and best practices.

8. Expertise building beautiful RESTful APIs (experience with OpenAPI is a huge plus).

9. Comfortable in a remote team setup and managing tasks across different time zones.
