OPA - EC&I ENGINEER. DUE 13/11/24
6-month contract
Monday to Thursday - 08:00 - 16:30 & Friday 08:00 - 13:00
Remote working with site visits (accommodation / travel fully funded)Role requirements:
To carry out the tasks and duties of a Project Electrical Controls & Instrument (EC&I) Engineer, to deliver the following:
Plan, manage and execute the programme of works for electrical, controls & instrument engineering tasks associated with Major Projects delivery in line with company standards and relevant UK / European legislation, making reference to the OPA's Technical Authority for EC&I Engineering where necessary.
Develop EC&I scopes of work relevant to all stages of the project lifecycle.
Complete activities required on specified Major Projects ensuring they are fully compliant with company policies, procedures and legal requirements, particularly safety and ensuring safe systems of work.
Liaise with members of the OPA Technical Authority Team and Asset Integrity Team, within the OPA Engineering Division, on engineering/safety standards & codes, documentation and asset integrity.
Produce detailed programme of works/Gantt charts etc.
Contribute to budgets and forecasts for work.
We require all people on site, including contractors to behave in a manner consistent with OPA Values.
May be asked to complete additional tasks required by OPA providing it is within the scope of qualifications and experience of an EC&I Engineer.
Must hold a relevant Degree in Electrical or Control & Instrumentation and significant project management experience, preferably within a COMAH regulated industry/operation. Chartered or working towards chartership with the relevant Institution
Knowledge/Skills:
A minimum of 5 years' experience as a disciplined Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer, working with onsite Engineering Projects Teams and contractors, to ensure modifications to equipment or the construction of new assets within an industrial environment are fully executed safely and to the required standards.
Solid understanding of good project management principles.
Has experience around coordination and delivery of multiple Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineering Projects monitoring progress against time and budget.
Have extensive experience of leading and overseeing professional contract engineers, engaged in the delivery of complex Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineering projects within demanding time quality and cost constraints.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with all stakeholders including the HSSEQ, O&M Contractor, HSE, EA and MOD Sponsors and other contractors / consultants.
Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineering design and installation in a hazardous area process plant environment.
Ability to develop new ideas and solutions and have an awareness of current and emerging technologies.
Knowledge of the relevant legislation, regulation, design codes, Technical standards and approved codes of practice around Electrical, Control and Instrumentation (eg ATEX, BS 7671, 61508, 61511) but also to include MOC (Management of Change) COMAH and CDM.
If required qualified with Compex EX12 (Application Design)
Functional Safety Experience (Desirable)
Understanding of Safety Lifecycle requirements of IEC 61508 / 61511. including verification of design / installation and system certification.
Provide planning budget forecasts for Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineering Projects ready for submission to the leadership Team for approval.
Strong understanding of engineering principles associated with Electrical, Control and Instrumentation engineering design
Able to demonstrate management/people relationship skills, in particular team and contractor management.
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Good negotiation skills
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
Either IOSH Managing or NEBOSH qualified.
NEC Contractor Awareness (Preferable NEC 3)
Basic awareness of BIM
