We are looking for a skilled Systems Design Engineer to join our team on a contractual basis. In this role, you will play a critical part in overseeing systems design, requirements management, and design robustness, as well as supporting system proving, certification, and FMEA processes. You will work onsite in Stevenage 3-4 days a week with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders, with the flexibility to work remotely for part of the week.
Responsibilities
Systems Design and Requirements Management
Lead Requirements & Acceptance (R&A) management activities, leveraging baseline documents to define system requirements.
Engage with stakeholders to derive requirements and build justification arguments to support design decisions.
Ensure robustness and control across design stages to maintain high-quality standards.
System Proving and Certification
Develop Test and Acceptance criteria for systems, collaborating in the creation of Test Plans for firing trials and evidence capture to validate system functionality.
Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Facilitator for DFMEA processes.
Provide general FMEA support and facilitate DFMEA workshops, sharing knowledge and best practices across teams and customer sites.
Contribute to functional architecture design by applying DFMEA techniques.
Establish and promote a 'Gold Standard' FMEA process within the customer's business management system.Essential skills
Proven experience in Systems Design and R&A Management.
Strong understanding of system proving and certification processes.
Expertise in DFMEA, with experience facilitating workshops and supporting cross-functional teams.
Ability to engage stakeholders effectively and ensure design robustness and quality.
Familiarity with Test Plan development for systems trials, including test and acceptance criteria.What do I need before I apply?
