About the team?
The Operations Resource assistant is a key part of the Train Service Delivery & Performance Directorate. The Train Service Delivery Team and Network Delivery are responsible for the operational presentation of service, train service recovery and the use of proactive operations in maintaining & improving real-time train service performance. The team communicate and work with multiple teams across the industry.

The Operations Resource Assistant role focuses on the real-time operational delivery & crew delivery of our service. As part of this role, you will work closely with members of the resource team in Control, Area Operations Managers, Crew Managers & Performance Teams as well as other local station management to ensure that GWR delivers the daily plan and where variances to the plan are required, they are appropriately planned and implemented.

About the location?
The role is based at London Paddington Flagship Station. There may be a requirement to outpost on occasions to support Engineering Work.
Working Pattern?
The role is a weekend only position, working 18.5 hours a week on Saturday and Sunday. There may be a requirement to work Bank Holidays. Initial training will carry a requirement to work Monday to Friday.

The Operations Resource Assistant role focuses on the real-time operational delivery & crew delivery of our service. As part of this role, you will work closely with members of the resource team in Control, Area Operations Managers, Crew Managers & Performance Teams as well as other local station management to ensure that GWR delivers the daily plan and where variances to the plan are required, they are appropriately planned and implemented.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Main point of contact for Traincrew at London Paddington, providing Crew with information to change in the train service, station, and Crew workings.
- Collaborative working with the AOMs, Crew Manager, Stations, and Network Rail Operations to deliver the best possible real-time train service performance.
- Proactively monitor issues with the potential to affect real-time train service delivery and implement suitable plans to protect performance.
- Liaison between Controllers, Stations Teams, Crew Managers to identify and implement on-the-day changes to the local train service plan to meet operational and industry requirements.
- Assist the Control Centre and local teams in the delivery of service recovery during disruption, following agreed contingencies and proactive action on local matters for effective crew resourcing.
You will need to be:
- Proactive visible colleague, who is an excellent communicator across the business and industry.
- The ability to manage problems efficiently and communicate resolutions through appropriate channels.
- Flexible and adapt to incidents. Remaining calm and focused under pressure.
- Multitask responsibilities, prioritise workloads and work within procedures and processes.
As a minimum, you will need to have:
- An excellent knowledge of GWR services, routes, and onboard services.
- A firm understanding of resourcing processes.
- Excellent organisational, prioritisation and problem-solving skills.
- A good standard of verbal and written communication.
- Good understanding of contingency plans, Operational Tracker, and train service recovery process.
