Tax Specialist
Location: You may be in Willenhall, Coventry and local areas
Salary £60,000
Role Objective:
The primary objectives of this role are to:
* Lead the Corporation Tax Return Process for a group of UK-based companies.
* Oversee the year-end tax provisioning process, delivering defendable tax positions backed by clear and transparent disclosures.
* Engage actively in regulatory matters, including Price Reviews and Annual Performance Reviews.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will:
* Support the tax function on new business initiatives (e.g., M&A, restructuring) and legislative changes, including lobbying and impact assessments.
* Pursue value-added tax opportunities aligned with the Group's tax planning strategy.
* Partner with key business areas such as Property, Treasury, and R&D.
* Coordinate tax governance activities, including the Group’s SAO program, tax risk register maintenance, inter-company charge reviews, and defense in tax audits.
* Manage tax considerations in treasury matters, including derivatives, transfer pricing, interest deductibility, withholding taxes, and FATCA.
* Prepare analyses supporting tax positions, including report building and peer analyses.
* Identify and implement improvements in tax processes.
* Assist with year-end tax reporting and compliance matters as required.
* Support audits and respond to queries from HM Revenue & Customs Large Business Unit.
* Manage relationships with external tax advisers on complex direct tax matters.
* Ensure compliance with group tax obligations, benefiting from applicable exemptions, credits, or reliefs.
* Oversee the relationship with the direct tax software provider to maintain compliance and enhance efficiencies
Experience Requirements:
Essential
* A solid background in tax advisory with 2-3 years of UK corporation tax experience in practice (Big 4 or mid-tier), industry, or commerce.
* Proven experience in managing and collaborating on multi-stakeholder projects.
* Proficiency in preparing Corporation Tax Computations.
* Experience preparing consolidated FRS101 and individual company tax disclosures for large and complex businesses.
Skills and Capabilities:
* Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders.
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to listen, challenge, and influence.
* High personal responsibility with excellent project management skills; must be a self-starter capable of managing a portfolio of work independently.
* Curiosity and proactive problem-solving abilities for addressing emerging tax issues.
* High energy and ambition, with a "can-do" approach.
Qualifications:
* Strong academic background.
* Qualified Chartered Accountant or Chartered Tax Adviser
