Our Geoscience team:


Venterra’s Geoscience team is made up of market-leading experts from Ordtek, GDG, and Partrac. We offer unparalleled site characterisation, geoscience management, sediment processes, UXO management, and GIS and data services, tailored to meet the comprehensive needs of our clients.


Role Description:


Due to increased workloads, we are looking for candidates with Geophysical and UXO offshore wind experience to join our established and growing Survey Management Team.


Venterra’s survey management team supports client’s by providing:


  • Project specific geoscience strategies.
  • Site investigation scoping and definition of technical specifications.
  • Tender management and evaluation.
  • Provision and management of offshore client representatives.
  • Management of in-field operations, vessels, and survey contractors.
  • QA/HSE supervision.
  • Development and management of laboratory testing strategies.
  • QA/QC of contractor deliverables and reports.


Key responsibilities will also include:


This includes (but not limited to) the following:


  • Oversee the technical aspects of planning, scoping, and execution support for phased offshore site investigations and laboratory testing initiatives.
  • Lead Geotechnical Site Assessments for offshore wind farm projects from inception through to the finalisation of geotechnical contributions, for design and installation phases.
  • Work closely with site investigation contractors to ensure compliance with contractual, health, safety, and environmental standards throughout field and laboratory activities.
  • Manage site investigation teams and on-site representatives to guarantee the delivery of high-quality data.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders to navigate third-party impacts on site investigations, devising and discussing mitigation strategies to safeguard project timelines and outcomes.
  • Supervise the interpretation of extensive geotechnical datasets and conduct comprehensive site characterisations to identify risks for regulatory and design needs, with support from engineering teams.
  • Assess and onboard new site investigation contractors, technologies, and methodologies to enhance local supply chain participation and project efficiency.
  • Balance project management and technical responsibilities, with an approximate allocation of 60% to project management and 40% to technical tasks.
  • Demonstrate in-depth expertise in specific geophysical areas, applying both theoretical and practical knowledge effectively.
  • Understand and manage operational and project-specific activities within the team, including detailed comprehension of contract scopes and requirements.
  • Provide clear leadership and task coordination within the team, assigning responsibilities that play to individual strengths.
  • Resolve team issues effectively, maintaining positive dynamics and project progression.
  • Skilfully draft and oversee the production of complex reports, leading teams to deliver thorough and comprehensive project documentation.


Expertise required:


  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Working full-time as there will be constant activity.
  • Someone who can handle many tasks in parallel and has a strong technical and commercial understanding.
  • Good at collaborating with others.
  • Someone with experience of running large offshore geotechnical campaigns.


Education/Qualifications:


  • Hold a University Degree in geophysics related discipline.
