MGS India has been set up as a Global Capability Centre / Centre of Excellence to provide support services across various functions such as IT, KYC/ AML, Credit, Operations etc. to MUFG Bank offices globally. MGS India has plans to significantly ramp-up its growth over the next 18-24 months while servicing MUFGs global network across Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific About the Role: Position Title: Manager Trade Corporate Title: AVP Reporting to: Vice President Location: Bangalore Job Profile Purpose of Role : The Manager has high level experience in trade finance processing, with excellent technical abilities and people skills which, are utilized to assist with the drive and development of the team, to meet the changing landscape of the business that we support and under direction from the Director and Vice Presidents of Trade Finance Operations. The role is responsible for the accurate, error free and timely processing of transactions within the team, strict adherence to all procedures, controls and governance and assisting with the motivation and direction of the analysts, thereby delivering high level service to all clients (internal and external). This role has additional focus to support team structural changes which, is necessary to support business growth, streamline end to end process, enhance control and maximise efficiencies. For this reason, the Manager will utilise people skills to lead, drive and motivate allocated sub team(s). People development is also a remit under the Manager role with the responsibility to identify training opportunities to raise the technical abilities of individuals, ranging from; knowledge and application of governing rules, correct and accurate system usage, key controls, procedure adherence, team spirit and client centricity. Assist with the smooth, accurate, efficient and error free running of the team. Managers are an extended arm of management and are seen as the tactical and important component of the team, binding together all relevant levels. Check and release work across the teams functions. For this reason there is a heavy focus on knowledge and applying of HOP, procedures, controls and governing rules. To have good knowledge of, application and enhancement of controls and to ensure others adhere to such. Assist with the fair and structured distribution of work utilising the whole team at your disposal. This will require all Managers to communicate with each other in an open, effective and constructive manner. Ensure processing is effected in a team spirit and avoid silo based attitudes where people should think beyond their immediate work space and consider the wider team's pressure points thereby delivering maximum efficiency. Retain and promote a customer first attitude. Communicate with clients in a professional and helpful way, embracing the Japanese culture within which you work and the corporate values that underpin our behaviours and attitude to the job at hand and the business we support. Develop and improve client relationships making MUFG the preferred bank to deal with and maximise our wallet share of business. Be flexible and cohesive with the rest of the team to make solutions work and deliver high level service to our clients. Ensure compliance with all Bank and Regulatory requirements in order to mitigate financial and compliance risks. Be a coach and technical advisor to those who need assistance, be it other members of the team or clients. Act as a mentor and support the more junior members of the team. See opportunities to assist in a selfless approach. Behave in a way that you would like to see others behave. Be upbeat, approachable and be part of the drive to a motivated team Deliver effective solutions and make suggestions for improvements. Lead sub teams through change and growth. Support the Director and Vice Presidents with the management of staff concerns and issues and be the first point of support for day to day issues. Operate at all levels which requires actively supporting processing as well as verifying work with specific intentions to be flexible and agile to manage transaction spikes and cost WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum 8 years experience working in a trade finance operations environment Experience in oversight of work flow, operation control and responsibility of verification of work. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Functional / Technical Competencies: Thorough understanding of all trade finance products, import and export LCs, collections and financing. It is preferred for candidate to have exposure to Guarantees Products well Knowledge of UCP600 and other relevant ICC publications Knowledge of money laundering controls relevant to trade finance. Awareness of sanction policies Microsoft Office products Understanding of formatting Swift messages Excellent work flow and time keeping management Team building skills Education / Qualifications: Graduate and / or Post Graduate. Preferred: CDCS PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS: Excellent communication skills Works effectively with others to achieve team goals Freely contributes ideas and expresses opinions to others. Has an adaptable and flexible approach to work situations, willing to adjust and change to demands and circumstances. As duties and responsibilities change, the job description will be reviewed and emended in consultation with the role holder. The role holder will carry out other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the role as requested by their line manager or Department Head.
