PostgreSQL Developer - Design & Implementation

Job Title : PostgreSQL Developer. Location : Mumbai. Job Description : We are looking for an experienced PostgreSQL and MS SQL Developer to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with our engineering and data teams to design, implement, and optimize our PostgreSQL and MS SQL databases, ensuring high performance, data integrity, and seamless integration with applications. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of PostgreSQL internals and MS SQL , database design, and best practices for data management. Responsibilities : - Database Design : Design, create, and maintain PostgreSQL and MS SQL databases, ensuring efficient data structures, optimized storage, and scalable solutions. - Query Optimization : Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions for data retrieval and manipulation. - Data Modeling : Develop logical and physical data models that support business requirements and align with best practices. - Performance Tuning : Monitor and optimize database performance, including indexing strategies, query tuning, and cache utilization. - Data Security and Integrity : Implement data security measures, manage user permissions, and ensure data integrity through backup and recovery strategies. - Database Monitoring : Set up and maintain database monitoring and alerting to identify and address performance bottlenecks and issues proactively. - Collaboration : Work with application developers, data engineers, and DevOps teams to integrate PostgreSQL with applications, ensuring efficient data flow and compatibility. - Documentation : Create and maintain documentation for database designs, schemas, processes, and best practices. - Automation : Develop scripts and tools to automate database maintenance tasks and ensure reliable operation. Qualifications : - Experience : 3 years of experience as a PostgreSQL Developer or Database Engineer with a focus on PostgreSQL. Technical Skills : - Proficient in SQL and PL/pgSQL, with strong experience in writing and optimizing complex queries. - Strong expertise in SQL for database such as SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, Postgres. - Strong understanding of PostgreSQL and MS SQL architecture, indexing, and partitioning strategies. - Hands-on experience with SQL and SSIS packages. - Experience with database performance tuning and optimization. - Familiarity with tools for database monitoring, backup, and recovery. - Experience with version control systems (e., Git) and deployment tools. Nice to Have : - Experience with cloud-based databases (e., AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL). - Knowledge of other databases and data processing frameworks. - Familiarity with data warehousing, ETL processes, and data analytics. - Scripting experience in languages such as Python, Bash, or similar. - Soft Skills : Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently and in teams, and effective communication skills.
