Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our team in London, overseeing high-value construction projects ranging from £5 million and above. As a Design Manager, you will be responsible for managing the design process from inception to completion, ensuring the project meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. This role is central to the successful delivery of projects within time and budget while maintaining client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
* Project Management: Lead the design management process from start to finish, ensuring all projects are delivered within scope, on time, and within budget.
* Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with architects, engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to deliver cohesive design plans that meet client requirements.
* Quality Control: Oversee quality standards across design and construction phases, ensuring designs adhere to regulatory standards, industry best practices, and company guidelines.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate effectively with clients, addressing design expectations and resolving any issues as they arise.
* Budget Management: Monitor and control project budgets, ensuring cost-effective design solutions while achieving high-quality standards.
* Risk Management: Identify and mitigate design-related risks, ensuring a proactive approach to problem-solving across all project stages.
* Documentation and Compliance: Ensure all design documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
* Proven experience as a Design Manager within the construction industry, specifically in managing projects from £5 million and above.
* A background in architecture, engineering, or a related field, with a strong understanding of construction and design principles.
* Extensive experience managing multiple, complex projects in an urban environment, ideally within London.
* Strong knowledge of UK building regulations, health & safety standards, and industry-specific compliance requirements.
Key Skills
* Excellent project management and leadership skills, with a track record of successfully delivering high-value projects.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients, team members, and subcontractors.
* Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to managing design-related risks.
