Director of Commercial contracts

About the Role: Newly created position for a Director of Commercial Contracts to join this supportive and dynamic UKI team. This strategic role involves leading a team of commercial lawyers across various service lines and engaging at the Partner level to influence the firm’s commercial strategy and approach to contracting on both the client and supplier sides. The role also includes substantive legal advisory work.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a team of commercial lawyers.
• Engage with Partners to shape the firm’s commercial strategy.
• Oversee contracting processes for both clients and suppliers.
• Provide legal advisory services across a broad range of projects, including software development, systems integration, and business transformation.
• Handle client contracts such as engagement agreements, MSAs, GFAs, and more.
• Manage agreements related to tech, software, licensing, outsourcing, government and public sector, tenders, RFP responses, and supplier agreements.

Qualifications:

• Over 15 years’ PQE with proven experience as a commercial lawyer.
• Strong knowledge of IP law.
• Experience from a top-tier City law firm and/or in-house.
• Demonstrable experience in managing and leading a team of commercial lawyers.
