The Technology and Digital department, led by the Head of Technology, is responsible for providing expert technology and digitisation strategy, operational optimisation and analysis advice to clients operating within a fast-moving global environment. The team comprises several subject matter experts who work to a manager to deliver the client and internal Squarcle mandate. Working together but often independently, each team member will be expected to work, onsite and remotely, with the client on complex and exciting technology challenges.

The Power Platform Specialist, reports to a Senior Manager / Senior Technical Specialist and is responsible for the provision of independent expert advice on the business’s Power Platform projects to help identify and solve technical challenges, increase value, and maximise business efficiency and profitability. Using established processes whilst working with the client’s senior leadership and support staff the consultant will assist in the creation of digital strategies, processes optimisation and identifying technology solutions to meet client needs.

Squarcle consultants work across both project delivery, business and product development:


  • Delivery: Squarcle Technology and Digital consultants work to supply solutions to the client’s changing business needs. The scope of engagements is highly variable and can include core strategy development, large-scale implementation, process optimization, change management, data analysis, data modelling, solution development and innovative technology introduction.
  • Business development: Squarcle places an emphasis on leading sector thinking in the development of latest ideas. This can include producing white papers and internal research on relevant changes occurring in the sector and the impact on the general economy.
  • Product Development. Squarcle is passionate about investing in and developing its own products. This can include conceptualising, designing, and creating cutting-edge products that align with the business's strategic vision, meet customer needs, and drive sustainable growth in the market.

Consultants will have the opportunity to work across four broad subject areas:


  • Strategy: Strategy consultants provide clients with guidance in various spheres of business, including corporate strategy, business transformation, and digital and innovation capabilities.
  • Operations: Operations consultants provide clients with guidance about business process optimisations to improve operational business capabilities.
  • Data and Digital: Data and digital consultants specify and implement technological, data and digital solutions with the client to realise the value of their data.
  • Human Capital: Human capital consultants provide clients with solutions for change management and aide with any organizational changes that may affect the employees.


Primary Roles and Responsibilities


Primary Duties of the Consultant – Power Platform Specialist are to:

  • Work with clients to understand their business problem, their technology landscape and digital maturity.
  • Facilitate discussions and discovery workshops to understand the As-Is state and any existing digital change activity already underway.
  • Work with client teams to translate the business problem into business, user and solution requirements for the To-Be state and define improvement actions.
  • Produce project plans, designs and prototype Power Platform solutions to demonstrate early benefit and value.
  • Work in an Agile manner, collaborating closely with clients and colleagues to iteratively refine and deliver the solution within the Discovery – Alpha – Beta – Live delivery model aligned to GDS standards.
  • Ensure appropriate Agile ceremonies are performed and necessary information (e.g. progress, releases, risks, issues) is shared with the project manager and other stakeholders.
  • Work effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution.
  • Assist the Head of Technology in developing Squarcle’s Technology and Digital capabilities
  • Conduct performance reviews and annual appraisals for all direct reports.
  • Build and maintain data models, flows and Power Apps solutions.
  • Lead, coach and mentor team members in Power Apps solutions.


Secondary Roles and Responsibilities


Secondary Duties of the Consultant – Power Platform Specialist are:

  • Commit to continuous development by supporting the organisation of team events, training sessions and recruitment activities.
  • Carry out other duties as specified by the Senior Manager / Specialist.
  • Deputise for the Senior Manager / Specialist during periods of absence.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience (Essential)


  • Microsoft Power Platform, data modelling, business processes, data integration, cloud computing, Microsoft Office Suite, databases, SQL, security, and compliance.
  • Platform projects, Power Apps development, Power Automate development, Power BI, training and support, business analysis.
  • BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related analytical or technical field.
  • Problem-solving, communication, collaboration, attention to detail, adaptability, time management, customer-focused.
  • Experience designing and delivering technology and digital solutions to solve business problems and create enduring value for clients.
  • A growth mindset, enthused by challenge and the opportunity for continuous learning.
  • Aptitude to grasp new concepts and rapidly produce results.
  • Ability to be self-directed and be an independent contributor to the team.
  • Intellectual curiosity, exceptional client service, and a strong work ethic.
  • A team player dedicated to contributing toward the outcome desired by the team.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances and to think creatively to solve client issues.
  • Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is a security check.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience (Desirable)


  • Cloud technology qualifications (AWS/Azure preferably)
  • Well-developed core consulting skills e.g. research, analysis, presentation, and attention to detail.
  • Chartered Membership within a related field.
  • Project Management Qualification (Prince2, APM, Agile, Scrum etc)
  • An understanding of the Defence supply chain and/or Defence Digital infrastructure and constraints
  • Coding or software development experience
