Job: Project Development manager

Location: Remote (UK based)


Taylor Hopkinson is collaborating with an expanding, well-capitalised renewable energy developer. This company focuses on advancing utility-scale solar PV, onshore wind, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and green hydrogen projects across four key markets: the UK, US, Spain, and Italy.

Their objective is to establish a premier renewable development platform and bring approximately 4 GW of projects to ready-to-build status across these technologies over the next five years.

The team boasts over 100 years of combined experience in renewable development and investment, having successfully developed more than 10 GW of renewable projects across 50+ countries and raised over £2 billion to finance these assets.


They currently employ a diverse team of 26 skilled energy professionals. Their strategy focuses on building strong local teams and forming partnerships, alongside a flexible mandate that supports the creation of high-quality projects, contributing meaningfully to the global energy transition.

Job Overview: The role will focus on proactively developing a large-scale project pipeline in the UK, with responsibility for managing the development of large-scale PV and BESS projects from post-origination to ready-to-build (RtB) and supporting financial close.


This position requires strong leadership and the ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary project teams while engaging with regulators, communities, consultants, and landowners.

Key responsibilities include site selection, defining and implementing EIA scoping strategies, managing EIA studies, overseeing surveys and mitigation measures, securing consents, stakeholder engagement, community outreach, and handling project financial approvals and budgets. The successful candidate will also manage and complete all land agreements essential to large-scale renewable projects.


Key Responsibilities:


* Research grid availability and liaise with DNOs

* Oversee projects through all development phases to ensure all consents are secured for deliverable projects with competitive LCOEs

* Identify, deploy, and manage consultant resources for each project phase

* Develop and recommend strategies to the Head of Development and Senior Developer

* Provide guidance on commercial agreements and work with solicitors and land agents to finalise option and lease agreements

* Set, manage, and forecast project budgets, ensuring timely and accurate updates to the Senior Developer, Head of Development, CEO, and Finance Director

* Monitor and mitigate all critical project risks, including health, safety, and environmental standards * Lead negotiations with key stakeholders

* Serve as a primary contact for landowners and communities with project inquiries

* Ensure best practices in project management with contractors and consultants * Advise senior leadership on technical risks, project impacts, and solutions viability

* Balance technical detail with commercial priorities, with well-documented recommendations

* Present structured recommendations to senior leadership for informed decision making


Qualifications and Experience:

* Degree or relevant experience in Environmental Management, Planning, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Land Management/Surveying, with qualifications in obtaining development consents

* Proven experience in renewable project development, ideally in utility-scale solar

* Knowledge of UK and ROI planning and consent regimes and experience with renewable energy land agreements

* Awareness of Health & Safety protocols * Demonstrated resilience, determination, and strong interpersonal skills

* Excellent skills in report writing, presentations, and meeting deadlines under pressure
