Job Description

Job Title : Production Database Administrator (DBA) - SQL Server. Location : Kuala Lumpur (On-Site). Domain : Healthcare. Contract : 2 Years (extendable). Reports to : IT Operation Manager. Job Purpose : The Production Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of our databases. The role involves database installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrading, while ensuring data consistency, security, and 24/7 availability. The DBA will also be involved in capacity planning, performance tuning, and database security management, ensuring the efficient operation of databases in a high-availability healthcare environment. Key Responsibilities : - Database Installation & Configuration : Install, configure, upgrade, and migrate SQL databases, ensuring compatibility and performance optimization. - Backup & Recovery : Develop, implement, and regularly test backup and recovery plans; manage disaster recovery operations and ensure data consistency across production and DR environments. - Database Security : Manage authentication, authorization, and auditing processes to maintain database security and control user access. - Capacity Planning : Monitor disk storage, analyze growth trends, and advise on long-term capacity planning. - Performance Monitoring & Tuning : Regularly monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, optimize memory usage, and recommend query optimizations. - Troubleshooting : Quickly identify and resolve database issues to minimize downtime and prevent data loss. - High Availability : Ensure 24/7 database availability through redundancy, clustering, and online backup techniques. - ETL Operations : Manage data extraction, transformation, and loading processes, including report extraction and data compilation from end users. Qualifications & Skills : - Proven experience as a SQL Server DBA in a production environment. - Strong knowledge of database installation, configuration, upgrades, and migrations. - Expertise in backup and recovery processes and disaster recovery management. - Solid understanding of database security practices, including user authentication and access control. - Experience with performance tuning and resolving bottlenecks in SQL databases. - Familiarity with ETL processes for data extraction and transformation. - Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues. - Experience in a 24/7 high-availability environment in the healthcare domain is a plus. Preferred Skills : - Experience working in healthcare systems and managing healthcare-related data. - Knowledge of Care21/CALIMS systems is advantageous. (ref:hirist.tech)
