My Client is seeking talented professionals at all levels of experience to join their expanding UK Cables Design Engineering team within Transmission & Distribution. These roles are integral to ongoing growth and are not tied to a single project. Whether you're just starting your career or you have years of experience, My Client wants you to be a part of their dynamic and innovative team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to support underground HV cable construction projects. You could be based in one of their UK offices or take advantage of a hybrid working option, depending on your expertise and project requirements. While candidates may be based in any UK office, those open to working in the Crawley or Glasgow areas will be given preference.

What Will You Do?
Reporting to the Cables Lead Engineer, you will produce underground cable system (UGC) design studies to support construction and consultancy projects. Responsibilities may include:
- Preparing Cable System Design Summary reports, Cable Rating reports, Cable Bonding schemes, and Induced Voltage calculations.
- Conducting Cable Forces and Cable Sizing calculations for various installation and operational scenarios.
- Designing Cable Pulling plans, performing calculations, and reviewing installation drawings.
- Selecting materials and accessories, producing the Bill of Quantities for projects and tenders.
- Coordinating with suppliers, reviewing product designs and type test certificates, and providing technical support to the procurement team.
- Collaborating with other teams (such as OHL, Substations, and Protection) and various project stakeholders.
- Supporting the Operations team during the construction period.
Essential Requirements:
- A minimum of ISCED level 4 (post-secondary non-tertiary) HNC in a STEM subject, preferably with an Electrical Engineering focus.
- A basic understanding and grounding in HV Cable Design gained through initial industry experience.
- Proficiency in using CAD design software.
- Strong communication, numeracy, and IT skills.
- Ability to multitask effectively, prioritise workloads, and meet deadlines.
- Awareness of key health and safety impacts on UGC construction contracts.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
Desirable Skills:
- ISCED level 7 (Bachelor's degree) or level 8 (Master's degree) in Engineering or a relevant discipline.
- Experience working under CDM regulations as a designer.
- Ability to create PLS CADD Models.
- Continual commitment to personal and professional development.
- Driving licence is beneficial.
