Job Description
The commercial lead shall support the cost and commercial function in a senior role within the operations service line globally. The individual will be responsible for the development of project cost and sales reporting, including associated reporting to management and leadership teams. They shall be fully accountable for the preparation, analysis and reporting of monthend project positions across global operations.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
1. Preparation and consolidation of project budgets and periodic re-forecasts, including input into management reporting packs.
2. Support project managers with ongoing and regular costs analysis and information relating to the financial performance of projects.
3. Lead the gathering and distribution of data required under financial audit, including reported accrual positions and associated sales.
4. Manage the preparation, analysis and reporting of project costs and sales positions at each monthend in line with agreed deadlines.
5. Responsible for advising administrative personnel in the input of information across systems, including costs and sales rates, third party commitments, and sales invoices.
6. Provide input to the ongoing development of project reporting solutions within software applications, including project costing, revenue recognition and accrual generation.
7. Support the correct placement of requisitions and purchase orders across project codes and GL codes.
8. Support the business services manager and operations management with adhoc projects as required, including input to proposals, tenders, budgets and project analysis.
9. Other duties as assigned which may be reasonably expected within the scope of the role
Knowledge & Qualifications
1. Formal qualification in Business or similar (desirable)
2. Strong cost engineering and commercial acumen
3. Energy Sector experience
4. Experience of using Financial systems and ERP applications
5. Knowledge and ability to apply the broad principles of project accounting to a range of project environments
6. Ability to operate and influence at senior levels of the business
Skills & Experience
1. Experience supporting audits
2. Ability and commitment to complete tasks within set deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude
3. Proven experience of working in a cost / commercial role supporting operational businesses
4. Ability to influence others to provide inputs to allow efficient budgeting and reporting of results and forecasts
5. Excellent analytical and reporting skills
6. Ability to operate effectively with minimum supervision
7. Strong excel skills with the ability to manage large volumes of data and convert into management information
8. Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships
