Senior Project Engineer (Electrical)

Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Engineer (Electrical) to join a main contractor within the Water Industry.
MAIN TASKS
* Assist the Project Manager with the delivery of water and waste water projects to ensure that all projects are delivered safely, to a high quality, on time and within budget
* Provide leadership and technical support to electrical project engineers and site supervisors within the water team
* Liaise with the Installation Manager regarding M&E installation resource to undertake the project works in line with the programme
* Preparations of project programmes in line with the NEC contract requirements
* Assist the estimating team as required by undertaking site visits to survey the mechanical scope along with estimation of labour requirements
* Attend contract handover and design review meetings to provide project engineering support and advice along with taking responsibility for allocated projects
* Undertake detailed take offs for materials & speciation sheets for equipment
* Assist with the preparation of project designs. Review designs and advise how potential efficiencies can be made regarding design, procurement and installation
* Prepare risk assessments and method statements along with site safety agreements as required
* Liaise with the Installation Manager regarding labour allowance on contracts in order to ensure that the mechanical installation is completed within these allowances whilst driving efficiencies
* Undertake regular progress visits and meetings on site with the site team and clients representative to ensure that the installation works is progressing satisfactory and in line with programme
* Ensure the O&M manuals are collated and prepared in line with the contract requirements
* Preparation of scope documents for subcontract orders and purchase orders to ensure procurement activities are undertaken efficiently and that procurement opportunities are maximised
* Prepare and manage the project risk register
* Ensure that all project correspondence is saved within the Groups document management systems in line with the business procedures
* Preparation of the project quality plan and construction phase plan along with ensuring these documents are maintained and adhered to throughout the project life
* Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role
* Comply with Company rules, policies and procedures at all times
Carry out any other reasonable tasks which may be required from time to time and to enable the company to remain adaptable to changing markets and needs.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
Qualification equivalent to NVQ Level 3
ONC & HNC
City & Guilds Elec install pt 1 & 2
17th edition IEE regulations
Experience of managing contracts
Good commercial judgement.
Good negotiation skills
Decision making and problem solving within extent of personal responsibility
Good communication skills - telephone, written and verbal
Appropriate IT skills including Word, Excel and the use of company software packages
Analytical and numerate
Good interpersonal skills
Develop thorough knowledge of the Company’s services
Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure
Candidates will ideally have experince of working within the Water Industry, Candidates with exoerience in other sectors will be considered
