Here, you’ll be part of a dynamic Remote Engineering Design & Robotics Team dedicated to designing and developing bespoke remote handling equipment, tooling, and robotic systems. From concept through to commissioning, you’ll lead projects that include everything from consultancy and detailed design to on-site operations, making this role both challenging and exceptionally rewarding.
What You’ll Be Doing
Innovative Design: Create high-quality 2D design drawings and schematics for cutting-edge control panels, electrical equipment, and machinery using AutoCAD, adhering to top industry standards.
Detailed Calculations: Perform precise technical and design calculations to ensure accuracy and safety.
Lifecycle Project Involvement: Contribute to the full project lifecycle—from concept and design to installation, commissioning, and operational support.
Prototype Development: Assist in developing innovative prototypes and inactive test rigs to validate new technologies before deployment.
Safety Documentation: Prepare comprehensive product safety documents, including risk assessments, method statements, and operation/maintenance manuals.
Compliance Expertise: Ensure all designs comply with legislative, regulatory, and company policies, including CE/UKCA marking standards.
Technical Leadership: Provide expert guidance to technicians and craft personnel while supporting multi-disciplinary teams in achieving project objectives.
Procurement and Supplier Liaison: Lead procurement processes by preparing specifications, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring quality delivery.
Site Surveys and Documentation: Conduct on-site equipment and system surveys, documenting findings to improve safety and efficiency.
Inactive Test Rig Services: Design, install, and commission electrical building services for inactive test rigs.
Collaboration and Reporting: Produce technical reports and offer technical advice to ensure project success.
About You
Core Skills: A degree in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineering, coupled with experience in 2D CAD design (AutoCAD preferred).
Problem-Solver: A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to maintaining high safety standards.
Effective Communicator: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to articulate ideas and collaborate effectively.
Security Clearance Ready: Eligibility for SC-level clearance, requiring 5 years of UK residency.
Desirable Skills: Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it), experience in the nuclear sector, IOSH Managing Safely certification, and strong presentation abilities.
