Network Engineer - Routing & Switching

As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for the overall health and performance of our organization's network infrastructure. This includes designing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Juniper, Cisco, and HP Aruba network equipment, ensuring the smooth operation of network systems. You will leverage your deep technical expertise to implement network solutions, analyze performance metrics, and optimize network configurations to meet the business needs of the organization. Key Responsibilities : - Design and implement efficient network systems to meet organizational requirements, focusing on scalability, security, and performance. - Work closely with cross-functional teams to design network infrastructure, ensuring it is aligned with the business's goals, performance standards, and future scalability needs. - Analyze network performance data and implement improvements to ensure high availability, low latency, and optimal performance for all users and applications. - Configure and operate routers, switches, and wireless networking equipment from Juniper, Cisco, and HP Aruba to ensure seamless connectivity across different parts of the organization's network. - Perform troubleshooting on complex network issues, diagnosing problems related to routing, switching, and wireless infrastructure, and implementing timely resolutions. - Maintain and periodically upgrade network configurations, ensuring they remain aligned with industry standards, security requirements, and business objectives. - Monitor network traffic, bandwidth usage, and overall network performance using industry-standard tools (e.g, SolarWinds, PRTG, Wireshark, etc. - Respond to and resolve network incidents and service disruptions, ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining business continuity. Reporting : - Generate regular performance reports and provide actionable insights to senior management regarding network health, security, and performance. - Collaborate with other IT teams, such as Systems Administrators, Security Engineers, and Cloud Infrastructure Engineers, to integrate network solutions and ensure smooth operation of all IT services. - Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for network configurations, topology, and troubleshooting procedures. - Document changes, configurations, and issues related to the network infrastructure. - Provide guidance and technical support to junior network engineers and team members, sharing best practices and troubleshooting techniques. Qualifications & Skills : - In-depth knowledge of Cisco networking technologies, including routing, switching, and LAN/WAN design. - Experience with Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls (e.g, Cisco ASA) is a must. - Strong hands-on experience with Juniper networking solutions, especially Junos OS. - Experience in configuring Juniper routers and switches is critical. - Expertise in HP Aruba switches, wireless controllers, and access points. - Experience with Aruba's Centralized Management Systems (e.g, Aruba AirWave, ClearPass) is a plus. - Strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies, such as IP routing (OSPF, BGP), VLAN, MPLS, QoS, Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), and VPN (IPSec, SSL). - Familiarity with network monitoring tools like SolarWinds, PRTG, Wireshark, or similar tools for diagnosing and monitoring network performance. - Knowledge of network security practices including firewall configuration, IPS/IDS, site-to-site VPNs, and remote access VPNs. - 5-8 years of hands-on experience working with complex network infrastructures in an enterprise environment, including routing, switching, and wireless components. - Proven ability to monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize network performance in mission-critical environments. - Experience in working with cross-functional teams, particularly in Agile or DevOps environments, to support dynamic business needs (ref:hirist.tech)
