Role Overview : The Lead Software Engineer will play a crucial role in shaping and implementing high-quality, scalable software solutions, contributing to both the technology and team growth. This individual will oversee a team of software developers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure adherence to best practices in software development. Key Responsibilities (KRAs) : Technical Leadership : - Lead a team of developers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to achieve team objectives. - Establish and implement software development best practices, coding standards, and architecture guidelines. - Ensure a strong focus on code quality, maintainability, and scalability in all development processes. - Facilitate technical reviews, including code reviews and design discussions, to maintain high engineering standards. Project Management : - Plan, coordinate, and deliver projects on schedule while managing development timelines and resources. - Collaborate with project managers, stakeholders, and other engineering teams to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables. - Identify potential risks, bottlenecks, and dependencies to ensure timely issue resolution and project success. - Lead the transition of projects from development to production, ensuring quality and readiness. Software Development and System Design : - Architect, design, and build robust, scalable back-end systems using the specified tech stack (Python, EPI, MySQL, MongoDB, AWS). - Drive software development across all phases, including design, implementation, testing, and deployment. - Develop API-driven, modular, and extensible code while optimizing existing applications for performance and security. - Work closely with DevOps to ensure seamless CI/CD pipelines and smooth deployment processes. Innovation and Continuous Improvement : - Stay current with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies to maintain competitive technical advantage. - Propose innovative solutions to improve the functionality, performance, and efficiency of our applications. - Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement, encouraging team members to pursue relevant professional growth. - Implement strategies to improve the development process and reduce technical debt. Collaboration and Communication : - Serve as the primary technical point of contact, providing regular updates on project status, challenges, and solutions to stakeholders. - Promote a collaborative environment that emphasizes transparency, team alignment, and cross-functional partnership. - Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand and prioritize project requirements and to ensure alignment with company goals. - Support the growth of the engineering team by participating in hiring and onboarding processes. Required Skills & Qualifications : - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field. - 6 years of software development experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. - Strong command over Python; experience with EPI, MySQL, MongoDB, and AWS is essential. - Proficiency in back-end web development, with a solid foundation in computer science fundamentals and object-oriented programming (OOP). - Demonstrated experience in team leadership, including task delegation, team management, and mentoring. - Proven problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to make sound technical decisions quickly. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders (ref:hirist.tech)
