Responsibilities Develop an understanding of the specific mechanical engineering requirements per project Study and become familiar with the elementary system drawings Conveyor manifests Knowledgeable of equipment Engineering hours estimate Project contract requirements and options Provide technical interface with customer’s project representative(s) Project scope definitions 3D model reviews System level reviews Equipment and/or installation issues Contract and execute mechanical change orders Customer specifications / standards Flow rate improvements Mentor and navigate issues with less experienced Project Engineers Priorities, organization, and time management Mechanical lessons learned Mechanical equipment and installation Constructability Field issues System level design Change Orders Develop, maintain, and assist with creating a mechanical engineering schedule that provides timely delivery of material to fully support an installation schedule. Thorough grasp of project contract documents including clarifications and exceptions. Execute the project within the budget and hours in the contract estimate. Provide extensive technical support for Project Engineers, vendors, field installation personnel, and engineering sub-contractors as related to inquiries Host weekly meetings with project team members and customers Delegate and monitor tasks given to project engineers and other engineering team members on regular cadence Assist Procurement with ordering long lead items Maintain project-specific requirements while applying general knowledge of conveying systems, conveying equipment and customer general specifications and standards Help Project Engineers interpret and ensure compliance to customer specifications. Communicate project specific information with other departments Release drawings for installation and fabrication Create material purchase requests Relate information regarding changes to scope of work for the project as they occur Communicate status updates to engineering management on a regular cadence Be cognoscente of areas for professional development, cost reduction, quality improvements and enhanced customer service. Check drawings provided by mechanical designers for accuracy and provide feedback for corrections as needed. Perform or assist in directing engineering analysis as determined by project needs Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Efficient in a schedule driven environment Read, understand, and apply customer specifications Communicate proficiently to customers, vendors, co-workers, and management Good interpersonal skills Above average mentorship and teaching skills Excellent time management skills Provide technical support for vendors, field installation personnel, and engineering subcontractors as related to inquiries Good industry knowledge Good knowledge of material handling equipment and operations Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects and process improvements at once Effectively lead and mentor a project team of up to 10 project engineers and designers Estimate mechanical hours and support with change orders Experience with Microsoft Office, such as Outlook and Excel are required Familiar with AutoCAD and Inventor, Navisworks, and BIM is a plus Experience with Microsoft Project is a plus Education and Experience Six to ten years of material handling equipment experience preferably within the conveyor systems industry Experience with executing and supporting multiple mid to large projects Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering and design Travel Requirements Some international travel required /- 15%.
