POSITION DESCRIPTION:
- Lead key projects for new material parameter for Nikon SLM next generation machines
- Application support for early benchmarking of new material products
- Develop parameter sets for new and existing materials to be processed by Nikon SLM and perform full qualification with the focus on material performance, geometrical accuracy, process stability and productivity
- Full material characterization: mechanical properties, density analysis (cross sections, Archimedes, CT), microstructural investigations, SEM, EBSD chemical analysis, fracture surface analysis, roughness investigations
- Optimize material chemistry and powder physical properties for best performance in Nikon SLM technology combined with parameter sets that you develop
- Define and develop new alloy systems for LPBF with internal and external collaborations
- Prepare detailed reports of experiments for internal use and write external white papers as well as conference presentations of developed results
- Execute deep statistical analysis of material properties data to ensure high confidence level and a high standard of material performance
- Collaborate with internal and external customers, technicians, engineers, and scientists in an international environment to work on customer needs in regard to material parameter development and material qualification related topics
- Define future requirements for next generation LPBF machine products within the Nikon SLM Solutions family
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Master Degree or Equivalent Certification in Engineering Field or Materials Science (e.g. Mechanical, Aerospace) or Physics with focus on LPBF
- 4+ years of professional experience in the field of material development and Additive Manufacturing
- Expertise in post thermal treatment of different materials with regards to its response to microstructure and mechanical properties of different additive manufactured materials is required, including and understanding of the impact of material composition
- Broad experience in material testing during the qualification process, for benchmark part production and for machine acceptance tests
- Understanding of metal powder bulk physical behaviour and testing methods
