Overview:
Our client, a leading site investigation contractor, is seeking an experienced Principal Engineering Geologist to join their team in Cambridge. This position is ideal for a senior geologist with strong technical expertise in site investigation, a strategic mindset, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, efficient project results. As a Principal Engineering Geologist, you will oversee large, complex site investigation projects, lead teams, and act as the technical authority for engineering geological matters.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership: Manage and deliver complex site investigation projects across diverse sectors, including infrastructure, commercial, and residential developments.
Technical Oversight: Provide technical guidance and strategic direction for all phases of site investigation, from planning and design to execution and reporting.
Client Liaison: Serve as the main point of contact for clients, understanding their requirements, providing regular updates, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
Quality and Safety Management: Ensure all projects adhere to industry standards, health and safety regulations, and best practices, maintaining rigorous quality control throughout.
Resource Management: Oversee and allocate project resources, including field crews, drilling operations, and laboratory analysis, ensuring efficient use of time and budget.
Data Interpretation & Reporting: Analyze site data and prepare detailed geotechnical and engineering geological reports, providing clients with clear, actionable insights.
Mentoring & Team Development: Mentor junior geologists and technical staff, fostering a culture of learning, safety, and innovation within the team.
Business Development: Support business growth by identifying and pursuing new project opportunities, and contributing to proposal preparation and client presentations.Qualifications & Experience:

Academic Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
Industry Experience: Minimum of 10 years in engineering geology, with extensive experience in site investigation, ideally within a contractor setting.
Technical Skills: Proficient in data management software (e.g., HoleBASE, gINT), CAD, and GIS, with strong analytical and reporting capabilities.
Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of UK standards, codes of practice, and health and safety regulations relevant to site investigation and ground risk management.Key Competencies:

Leadership: Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to inspire, guide, and manage teams on complex projects.
Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to convey complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
