Job Description

Engineering Manager – Nuclear Power & Engineering Services

Location: Gloucester

Salary: Competetive

Are you ready to take your career to the next level? Our clients are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager with a passion for solving complex technical challenges in the nuclear sector. This is your opportunity to lead impactful projects that directly contribute to the UK's energy future and Net Zero carbon goals.

Why This Role?

As part of our clients' Nuclear Power and Engineering Technical Services (NPETS) business, you'll play a critical role in delivering cutting-edge engineering solutions for the UK's nuclear fleet. You'll support transformative projects, including new small modular reactor (SMR) development, life extension initiatives, and decommissioning operations.

If you're seeking to work on high-profile projects that shape the future of energy, this is the role for you.

The Challenge

The nuclear industry presents unique technical challenges. You'll lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams, ensuring the delivery of nuclear power structures, systems, and components. Managing complex projects, from design to commissioning, requires innovation and technical expertise. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating engineering teams to deliver nuclear engineering solutions that meet time, cost, and quality targets.
  • Acting as the technical authority, addressing nuclear safety and regulatory requirements while managing stakeholder interfaces.
  • Guiding projects through the nuclear investment delivery process, from FEED to commissioning.
  • Supporting Project Managers with resource planning, cost management, and risk control.
  • Implementing projects in alignment with industry standards and safety regulations.

You'll need to bring a problem-solving mindset, using your technical expertise to develop solutions that ensure the safe and efficient operation of the UK's nuclear power stations.

Why the Nuclear Sector?

Nuclear energy supplies 16% of the UK's power and is essential to meeting the nation's Net Zero carbon targets. This role offers you the chance to make a real impact on the UK's energy landscape, working on critical projects that secure the country's energy future while reducing carbon emissions.

If you're motivated by the challenge of maintaining and advancing nuclear power stations, this role is designed for you.

What We Offer

In addition to the technical challenges and impactful projects, this role provides excellent career growth opportunities. You'll work with some of the brightest minds in the nuclear sector, gaining valuable experience on high-stakes projects while developing your leadership skills.

The benefits package includes:

  • Free single medical cover, digital GP service, and enhanced parental leave.
  • Professional development support, with reimbursement for relevant memberships and qualifications.
  • Paid volunteering time and participation in community-focused programs through our Collectively initiative.
  • Flexible working options, including hybrid, part-time, and adjustable hours to fit your needs.

We prioritize continuous development and encourage you to grow and lead in your field while working within a supportive and inclusive team.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for a high-calibre engineering professional who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline with significant design experience.
  • Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional qualifications.
  • Expertise in Mechanical, Process, EC&I, Structural Integrity, or Civil Engineering.
  • Demonstrable experience in the Nuclear Sector (or similarly highly regulated environments), particularly working with the UK's nuclear power stations.
  • A proven track record of leading multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex engineering solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles, including change control and risk mitigation.

You'll also need excellent communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders and internal teams, ensuring successful project outcomes.

Inclusivity & Diversity

Our clients believe that people are at the heart of everything they do, fostering a culture that values safety, integrity, inclusion, and diversity. They are committed to positive mental health and creating a sense of belonging for all employees.

Their approach to inclusion and diversity is embedded in their business, ensuring everyone is valued for their unique perspectives and experiences. You'll be part of a workforce that's truly diverse, working within a company that celebrates individuality and encourages innovation.

If you're an experienced Engineering Manager ready to take on technically complex, high-impact projects and contribute to the UK's nuclear energy future, we want to hear from you.

Apply today and be part of a team that's leading the way in clean energy.
