What you'll do:
The Accounting Manager will lead the Brazilian accounting activities of a publicly-held, U.S. headquartered multinational telecommunications company. The Accounting Manager is responsible for directing broad aspects of operations, including enforcement of accounting processes and policies and will oversee the future SAP ERP implementation in Brazil. Must be a self-starter and work with limited direction while taking full ownership of the areas of responsibility and providing solutions and alternatives.
The day-to-day:
The Accounting Manager responsibilities include the following:
- Ensure timely, consistent, accurate and relevant reporting to Corporate office and local management.
- Manage Statutory & Group reporting standards and interface with outsourced accountants to ensure compliance with local accounting and regulatory requirements.
- Point of contact and liaison with accounting/finance teams and outside service providers.
- Work with tax team to ensure taxation compliance including transfer pricing, sales taxes and payroll taxes.
- Manage cash flow and timely payments to vendors.
- Ensure all accounting activities are compliant with statutory and legal requirements.
- Ensure timely review and approval of all balance sheet accounts, variance explanations and general ledger account reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with SOX by promoting the Company's internal control policies.
- Identify and help implement policies to improve efficiency.
- Liaise with various business partners such as legal, HR, Tax, and other functions to establish structure and processes for new international operations.
- Perform technical accounting research to ensure compliance with local GAAP, US GAAP and SOX, as applicable.
What you'll need:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline with an accounting emphasis preferred.
- Brazil accounting certification required (CRC) and experience in public accounting and audit at a Big4 accounting firm.
- Experience in ERP implementation in Brazil, preferably with Oracle.
- A minimum of 6-8 years of technical accounting experience.
- Management experience in a supervisory or management role.
- Self-starter and highly motivated.
- Ability to work in a changing environment.
- Team player who can demonstrate initiative, entrepreneurship, and sound judgment.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, influencing and leadership skills.
- Bi-lingual with strong Portuguese and English language skills.
