Job Description
Mpeople Recruitment are assisting in the recruitment of a Design and Technical Engineer for an international manufacturing company, you will be based at the Head Office in Bolton. You will be part of a group of companies operating globally, renowned in their industry, whose products are designed and developed at each site, innovative, environmentally forward thinking and collaborative in approach with a recognised known client base. The business has an established learning, development, training pathways and packages available for all employees. Your main function will be designing and specifying products to meet customer needs, new product development processes, provide technical and costing support to the Sales Team and key information to the Production and other colleagues across the global group business. The position is full-time, 38 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 7.30 am to 4.00 pm and Friday 7.30 am – 12.50 pm with a salary of £33,000 - £37,000 per annum.
Design and Technical Engineer Duties:
* Aligning and following standard NPD processes across group businesses.
* New product development and assisting these into production along with SOP’s.
* Create manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks.
* Calculate direct cost of manufactured products ready for quoting, provide technical and design engineering support to sales.
* Update and produce manufacturing data, BOM’s and routes ready for production planning.
* Work closely with production engineering, quality and production to maximise efficiency.
* Maintain records of drawings, documents and key paperwork.
* Undertake project work to drive continual improvement through the business.
* Identify potential suppliers of new parts and materials.
* Liaising with customers on new and existing products, on occasion you will go out to meet customers.
* Provide input into the design of custom-made products.
* Maintain a good knowledge of new and existing products and technical specifications.
* Other duties as requested by the Manager.
* Training will be provided on current systems to assist with main duties, i.e. BOM’s, record archiving and New Product Development processes.
* Undertake other reasonable tasks as requested by the Senior Industrial Engineer and OP’s Manager.
Requirements:
* 3-5 years' experience in a similar role is essential
* A HNC in Engineering or a Degree in Engineering, technical or mechanical or work-based equivalent is required for the role.
* Lean Manufacturing and Design or 5S, with knowledge of ISO 9001 (2015) is desirable however, training will be given
* Must be proficient in Solid Works for producing 3D models and drawings and be computer literate in Microsoft Office applications, in Excel, and Word and Outlook.
* Working knowledge of Axapta or Epicor or other ERP would be advantageous however, training will be given.
* Experience of project work & managing multiple projects at one time
* Strong communication both written and verbal, able to build relationships, understanding of working in fast paced environments with the ability to prioritise and adapt to change, whilst able to understand process or continuous improvement.
* Ideally you will have experience of dealing with customers face to face as there is some requirements of this within the role.
* Required ability to work to deadlines, targets and SLAS.
* Team player, hands on approach with a positive attitude to learning and can work collaboratively.
