About the Role

We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join our team and play a pivotal role in maintaining our internal systems and infrastructure. You will also support our development teams in implementing and integrating internal applications.

This role involves a wide range of responsibilities, including database administration, automation, and deployment.

Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure Management:

• Maintain and optimize our internal systems and infrastructure.
• Ensure the availability, performance, and security of our systems.
• Implement and manage database solutions, primarily MySQL.

Development Support:

• Collaborate closely with development teams to understand their needs and provide technical guidance.
• Implement and integrate internal applications using technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, PHP, and API/Pub/Sub-based integration.
• Automate build, test, and deployment processes using tools like GitLab CI/CD (or potentially GitHub Actions).

DevOps Practices:

• Promote and implement DevOps principles and practices.
• Automate tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
• Implement robust monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve issues.

Database Administration:

• Manage and optimise MySQL databases, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security.
• Troubleshoot database-related issues and implement effective solutions.

Essential Requirements:

• A strong understanding of DevOps principles and practices.
• Experience with infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins).
• Knowledge of database administration, particularly MySQL.
• Experience with containerisation technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Desirable Requirements:

• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure)
• Knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, PHP, and API/Pub/Sub-based integration.
• Experience with Docker Swarm and Jira Cloud Administration.
• Relevant industry certifications.
