Job Description
FPGA Firmware Engineer - Contract
Looking for an experienced and high performing contract Firmware Engineer to join a successful Assured Position, Navigation and Timing (APNT) team within the Global Sensors Mission Area, creating Digital GPS Anti-Jam Systems for the military market. The role will be based at our client’s Harlow facility, and the successful candidate will report directly to the APNT Hardware Engineering Lead.
Main Duties:
The successful applicant will support the APNT Team across various programmes (both internally and Customer funded) and will involve the following main duties with VHDL Firmware:
* Develop requirements to ensure compliance to the relevant standards.
* Create and manage architectures for firmware, mainly FPGAs
* Understand, decompose and verify firmware requirements
* Create FPGA design using VHDL and embedded C
* Define and perform unit level and sub system level testing for embedded firmware
* Create firmware design and test documents
* Create Firmware Simulation Test Reports
* Create Timing and Power Analysis Reports
* Perform technical reviews of the documents and release
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
* Experience creating firmware architectures
* Experience testing and verifying requirements
* Experience with Matlab/Simulink
* Experience working with FPGAs and SoC technologies
* Ability to understand VHDL code
* Able to present technical information clearly and concisely to others
Desirable:
* Experience using the Vivado and Vitis design tools, or equivalent.
* Experience delivering embedded firmware as part of a product
* Knowledge of Embedded C
* Familiarity with the application of a systems engineering approach across the design and development lifecycle
