Job Description
The position is based in Montreal but an application based in Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton or Vancouver may be considered. A career as a Chief Advisor in the Strategy and corporate development team at National Bank means contributing to the Bank's success by acting as a professional recognized by senior management in M&A, strategic partnerships, financial analysis and corporate strategy. It means influencing strategic and financial decisions to ensure the Bank's optimal positioning. It also means representing the Bank by participating as an expert in project management and in several initiatives related to strategy or corporate development with third parties, consultants, advisors or influential organizations. This position allows you to have a positive impact on our organization, thanks to your expertise in corporate strategy and the identification of business opportunities and your keen interest in the analysis, negotiation and execution of mergers, acquisitions and strategic partnership projects. It is through your creative mind, your strategic vision and your rigor that you contribute to the success of a wide variety of projects with high impact on the organization. Your job Analyze the business context and identify business opportunities Coodinate the analysis, negotiation and execution of M&A, corporate divestment and strategic partnership activities Coordinate the financial analysis of the various projects Support and participate in the development and regular follow-up of the Bank’s strategic plan and annual business plan Participate in the identification of organic growth areas Conduct various other analyses as requested by senior management to improve the Bank's strategic positioning Manage or contribute to matrix project teams for the analysis and, where appropriate, the realization of organic or acquisition-based growth or divestment opportunities, including by engaging and collaborating with designated staff from other Bank units and external resources assigned to projects Monitor (benchmark) strategic and corporate development initiatives for the competition Your team Within the Strategy and corporate development group, you will be part of a team of 5 colleagues and report directly to the VP, Corporate development strategy. The team's mission is to be a centre of expertise for environmental strategic monitoring, advice on the development of corporate strategy and the evaluation of investments or strategic partnerships. Monitoring and identifying business opportunities in line with strategic objectives are also part of our mandate. Basic requirements Industry-related bachelor's degree and 10 years of relevant experience or industry-related master's degree and 8 years of relevant experience CPA (CMA, CGA, CA) or Financial Analyst (CFA) designation Experience in team management in matrix mode Experience in business strategy or corporate development Experience in valuation, business acquisition and due diligence Ability to work under pressure and meet demanding deadlines Excellent listening, communication, influencing and writing skills Knowledge of the Canadian financial industry and its various products and services Your benefits In addition to competitive compensation, upon hiring you’ll be eligible for a wide range of flexible benefits to help promote your wellbeing and that of your family.
