Hours of work: 38 hours per week Salary: £16.05ph Staff Benefits: Life Insurance, Medicash scheme, Free car parking on site, Canteen, Career progression, Local discounts. #wbstaff Job Title: Development Coachbuilder Department: Product Development Reports To: Development Manager Purpose of Post Responsible for the manufacture and assembly of prototype bus bodies within the development area and assembly in accordance with the customer specification. Providing an important interface between prototype build and production assembly the job holder will be responsible for liaising between Planning, engineering, and production to ensure a fast and efficient introduction of all new vehicles. Generating ideas and concepts and ensuring that all work undertaken can be in a practical sense be replicated for mass production. Key Tasks: Responsible for the fabrication of complex parts and assemblies related to the overall development process of a prototype body build. Able to interpret complex part assembly and schematics drawings and to follow verbal instructions, be Able to move between all distinct operations in development whilst maintaining high quality workmanship and overall efficiency. Responsible for the fitting and assembly of metal, wood, and laminate components to vehicles during the assembly process in accordance with the customer and build specifications. World class manufacturing practice: Ensure the promotion of design for manufacture and continuous improvement projects to change manufacturing methods, ensuring savings in time and materials in conjunction with all aspects of engineering. Responsible for compliance with the company's Health and Safety policy procedures. Ensuring the safe operation of plant, equipment and/or hand tools associated with the manufacture, fitting or assembly of components. Providing a support role to production assemblies in various strains not least by ensuring that bespoke jigs, temps and fixtures are fit for purpose and relevant job knowledge on critical build components is passed on in a practical way and where necessary documented. Responsible for undertaking training or retraining associated with the post or the introduction of new working practices. Ensuring clear lines of communication between relevant departments not least by attending and reporting on prototype build issues at prototype round by round meeting, ensuring that suggestions for improvement are made known and suspected poor work practices are highlighted to development manager. Produce first off WMP's and work alongside Manufacturing Engineering in the roll out to production. Work alongside Manufacturing and Product Development to upskill and train the production operatives on new product development builds. Responsible for product confidentiality with regards to development activities. Undertake any other duties conducive with the effective operation of the post. Compliance with the company's Health and Safety procedures. Undertaking training or retraining associated with the post or the introduction of new working practices and training other colleagues. General Undertake all duties in line with General Data Protection and maintain utmost level of confidentiality. Ensure work is completed to meet the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard. Ensure that you treat those with whom they come into contact in a courteous and respectful manner in accordance with the Dignity at Work Procedure.
