Job Description
Job Title: Safety Assurance Manager – Rail Infrastructure
Location: Travel to offices Kent, Sussex, and Wessex
Hours: Full-time, 47.5 hours per week
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Safety Assurance Manager to lead safety assurance initiatives across critical rail infrastructure projects. This role offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic team, ensuring compliance with essential safety and quality standards and contributing to high-stakes projects within the rail sector.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee the application of CSM-RA (Common Safety Method for Risk Assessment) for project safety compliance.
* Chair HazID (Hazard Identification) Meetings and manage comprehensive hazard records throughout project life cycles.
* Work closely with project engineers and design teams to ensure all safety and quality standards are met.
* Provide safety assurance support to Contractor's Engineering Managers (CEMs) and advise clients on their obligations under CSM-RA and other safety legislation.
* Promote engineering excellence and health, safety, and quality standards across all project teams.
* Capture and share lessons learned to continuously improve safety and quality standards.
Key Skills and Experience:
* Qualifications: Minimum HNC/HND in Engineering, ideally Civil Engineering.
* Experience: In-depth knowledge of railway design, CSM-RA application, and proven experience in health and safety management within railway projects.
* Proficient in chairing HazID meetings and maintaining thorough safety records.
* Strong understanding of design and engineering processes as well as industry standards and regulations.
* Ability to interface effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including engineering and safety partners.
* Demonstrated ability to handle pressure, showing strong communication and collaboration skills within team-based environments.
