Job Opportunity: Senior Cloud Engineer
Salary: Paying up to £54,000 per annum
Contract: Fixed term (2 years)
Location: Cambridge

We are excited to partner with a prestigious university in their search for a Senior Cloud Engineer. This is an exceptional opportunity to be part of a groundbreaking initiative in astronomical research, supporting a large-scale international project that aims to enhance our understanding of the Universe.
About the Role:
As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will play a vital role in integrating and optimizing complex systems to support the research agendas of an international scientific community. This position involves a balance of hands-on technical work and mentoring, with approximately 90% of your time focused on practical implementation and 10% dedicated to leadership and support for junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
Hands-On Development: Engage directly with cloud technologies, primarily OpenStack, and leverage your coding skills in tools such as Ansible, Helm, Terraform, and Docker. Experience with GitOps and CI/CD practices is highly desirable.
Solution Architecture: Lead the development of solution architectures while ensuring alignment with technical standards and project goals.
Systems Design: Design complex systems, conducting impact analyses and managing associated risks effectively.
Integration and Build: Oversee systems integration, utilizing automation and continuous integration strategies.
Project Management: Define and monitor systems development projects, ensuring compliance with architectural standards.
Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a proactive and self-sufficient work environment.
Collaboration: Utilize tools like Jira for project tracking and engage in daily stand-ups and sprint planning to ensure alignment and progress.What We're Looking For:
Proven experience in cloud engineering, with a focus on OpenStack or other cloud technologies.
Strong coding skills and familiarity with tools such as Ansible, Helm, Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes.
Self-sufficient and proactive attitude, with the ability to lead by example.
Excellent problem-solving abilities with a data-driven mindset.
Strong communication skills for effective stakeholder collaboration and team engagement
