Job Description
Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor who excels at contract negotiation and value engineering?
Shanly Homes - the privately-owned, award-winning regional housebuilder - is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Thames Valley region and be part of a successful team developing bespoke, high end properties in and around Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and North London.
About the role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will:
* Place contracts for all relevant subcontractor work on our developments
* Prepare subcontract enquiries, send out for pricing and ensure that contracts are placed in line with the build programme
* Produce a detailed trade specific scope of works and qualification notes for all enquiry documentation
* Analyse subcontractor quotes and form a recommendation on who to appoint
* Ensure standard terms and conditions are agreed with all orders/contracts placed
* Manage subcontractor payments
* Process stage payments to subcontractors when due
* Ensure all contra charges are managed
* Carry out checks for UTR status of subcontractors
* Review and process variations in accordance with terms and conditions
* Work in partnership with other teams to ensure key dates for the build programme are achieved
* Check drawings to ensure the proposals are practical and commercially viable
* Regularly attend project meetings on site
* Provide cost advice for the sales team
* Produce regular reporting
* Compile full cost reports for each development, to include services, materials, sub-contract and prelim costs
About you
We’re looking for someone with:
* Strong experience in a similar surveying role within a residential house builder
* Excellent numerical skills with strong attention to detail
* Great team player with good communication skills
* Organised and able to work well in a busy team
