GSK R&D and Digital and Tech's collective goal is to deliver business impact, including the acceleration of the discovery and development of medicines and vaccines to patients. GSK Development and Development Digital & Tech are in the final stages of delivering on a multiyear investment aimed at modernizing the clinical development landscape. In order to ensure we maximize the value of the data we generate using these new systems in combination with the data assets we acquire externally, new teams in both the R&D Development and Development Digital & Tech organizations are being established to focus on the governance and design.

The Data Product Owner is a key role in this mission to supercharge our data, and is accountable for increasing value, improving flow, and enhancing quality of the data products within their domains in alignment with the R&D strategy. As a Data Product Owner in the Clinical Development domain you will be accountable for the roadmap for a subset of data products enabling clinical study data processes, programming activities and clinical study data re-use consumed across GSK via the Development Data Fabric. The Data Product Owner will be responsible for defining and prioritizing the backlog for the products in their domain and will work in partnership with the engineering teams to deliver new/enhanced products in line with the roadmap.

The Data Product Owner is expected to maintain a working knowledge of clinical development process, systems and data to effectively bridge data generation and consumption whilst surfacing opportunities to further maximize the use of this data. The Data Product Owner (DPO) helps to make decisions around the vision and the roadmap for the data products, actively seeks and responds to voice of the customer and continuously measures and improves the quality and usability of the data products in her/his domain.

In this role you will
  • Strategy: Accountable for developing and executing 3-year data product roadmaps in alignment with the R&D strategy and R&D stakeholders. The product roadmaps will be built with a clear focus on value delivery to the R&D strategy and will prioritize investments based on value.
  • Product Management: Accountable for managing and prioritizing the data product backlog, driving PI planning events, aligning on PI commitments, and unblocking issues. Partner with data owners and stewards in Development and data engineers in Development Digital & Tech to ensure features are delivered to plan and in line with expectations.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including subject matter experts and Development data owners and stewards, as well as data governance product owners and data engineers in Development Tech to deliver end-to-end solutions that meet user needs and business goals
  • Value delivery and realization : Work with business partners to capture the value of the use cases put forward and guide business data analysts and modelers in translating these use cases into conceptual data flows, target data models and data processing requirements with data re-use and interoperability at the forefront of the design.
  • Lifecycle Management: Manage the data product lifecycle, from ideation to launch to iteration, using agile methodologies. Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs), quality and success metrics for the data products. Actively seek feedback (voice of customer/voice of product) and monitor usage patterns.
  • Governance: Partner with Development data owners and stewards to ensure fit for purpose governance is defined and applied to the products within the domain

Qualifications & Skills:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or engineering
  • Proven track record of delivering data products that solve complex problems and create value for users and stakeholders, preferably in Pharma R&D
  • Experience working with Pharma R&D data from multiple disciplines across a global enterprise to create cohesive solutions
  • Understanding of data products and their application in Pharma R&D analytics including but not limited to data integration, data governance, data quality, data security, data lineage, data cataloguing, data discovery, data access, data sharing, data collaboration, etc.
  • Excellent relationship management, strong influencing and communication skills at senior level.
  • Experience with Agile and DevOps
  • Experience with vendor management

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
  • Master's or Doctorate in Tech / Life Sciences
  • Experience with clinical data standards (CDISC, SDTM, ADaM, etc.) and clinical trial processes
  • Familiarity with public or industry Clinical data resources such as clinicaltrial.gov, TransCelerate, etc.
  • SAFE/Agile certification
  • Experience of GxP Validation processes
