Our client is a leading International packaging manufacturer selling into the Pharmaceutical and Food industries. In recent years the group has developed from a supplier with a strong European regional focus into a group which is active on a global basis in the world's most attractive and fastest-growing markets for packaging. The UK site is focused on providing short lead times to the customer for both small and medium production volumes.
They are now looking to recruit an Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will happily engage with all departments to ensure continual operation of production in a safe efficient manner. You will supervise / manage and get hands on daily to repair and maintain machinery in packaging production-focussed environment. You will also actively learn to become the deputy for the Head Of Operations on site.
Responsibilities / Key Activities:
Organising day-today tasks such as resolution of breakdowns and on-site contractors as well as delivering longer-term projects such as installations and the preventative maintenance program.
Supervise staff and activities in the engineering department. The department is responsible for ensuring safe and efficient uptime of the production machines and ancillary equipment.
HSSE priority be an ambassador for HSSE on site. Manage the resolution of machine related HSSE incident reporting from the shop floor.
You will successfully manage the department with multiple requests and constantly updating priorities within a busy manufacturing environment, ensuring successful close-out. You will be required to be hands on
Project planning: Assist management with the success implementation and install of new plant and infrastructure.
Assign resources where needed to ensure the timely and safe resolution of breakdowns.
Prioritise and manage own and teams' resources to deliver the plan.
Plan and implement Continuous Improvement suggestions relevant to the department from the shop floor.
Oversee preventative maintenance program and assign resources to keep production and ancillary machines working.
Work with suppliers to ensure service contracts are in place and PM schedule is maintained.
Obsolescence and OTT: monitor equipment for obsolescence and breakdown risks and support management to plan for investment to reduce breakdown frequency and impact.
Assist group It with the identification and replacement of Obsolete IT (Drives, PLCs etc)
Ensure the team monitor Statutory register to ensure adherence to compliance related mattersExperience / Personal Attributes:
Electrical and mechanical engineering compliance experience (Electrical bias preferred).
Problem solving and fault finding on machines.
Knowledge of how a 24h multi-machine production environment operates and the importance of maintaining uptime.
Experience dynamically managing time and resource of a small engineering team in a production environment.
Experience with Electrical and Mechanical engineering related tasks
Problem solving and fault finding on machines.
Experience with installation projects such as plant and infrastructure CAPEX. Including managing scheduling of key interventions and milestones and orchestrating external resources to meet deadlines.
You will thrive in an environment with a continuously changing schedule and priorities.
Problem solve through disciplined, organised approach.
Excellent communicator both written and spoken with the ability to listen effectively, follow direction and provide feedback.
