Lead Engineer - Android Applications

Role Overview : We are looking for an Android Lead with 10 years of experience in product companies, especially someone who has been part of one or more 0 - 1 product journeys. As the Android Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading the development and scaling of our Android application, ensuring a seamless user experience. You will take ownership of end-to-end delivery, provide technical leadership, and help grow and mentor the team. Key Responsibilities : - Requirement Gathering : Collaborate with the product and design teams to understand and define business and technical requirements. - Sprint Planning & Execution : Create and manage sprint plans, allocate tasks to the team, and monitor progress to ensure timely delivery of features. - Technical Leadership: Drive the technical vision and architecture of the Android platform, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability. - Hands-on Implementation : Contribute to coding and technical implementation, solving complex problems, and guiding the team through challenges. Technical Mentorship : - Guide and mentor the Android team, fostering a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement. - Conduct code reviews and provide feedback on design and architecture decisions. - Facilitate knowledge sharing across the team and ensure team members' professional growth. Team Building and Hiring : - Collaborate with HR to identify and recruit top Android engineers for the team. - Play an active role in scaling the team as the Android product evolves, ensuring a high standard of talent acquisition and development. Key Skills and Qualifications : - 10 years of experience in Android development with a deep understanding of Android SDK, Kotlin, and Java. - Proven experience in building and scaling Android applications in production environments with a large user base. - Demonstrated experience in 0 - 1 product journeys, building and launching new products from scratch. - Strong understanding of modern Android architectures (MVVM, MVP, Clean Architecture), Design Patterns, and UI/UX principles. - Expertise in API integration, networking frameworks, and third-party SDKs. - Experience in handling performance optimization, memory management, and app security. - Familiarity with Agile methodologies, sprint planning, and task management tools. - Excellent technical leadership skills, with a passion for mentoring and growing engineering teams. - Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to technical challenges. - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
