Storage Lead Engineer - IT Infrastructure

1. Storage Infrastructure Management : - Pure Storage & NetApp Expertise : Lead the management of Pure Storage and NetApp storage arrays, ensuring optimal configuration, capacity planning, and performance. - Oversee the deployment, maintenance, and day-to-day operation of SAN and NAS environments to support critical applications, virtualized environments, and business operations. - Ensure integration and seamless interoperability between Pure Storage FlashArrays, NetApp FAS, ONTAP, and other storage systems, maintaining high availability and fault tolerance. - Optimize storage solutions to enhance performance, reduce costs, and improve efficiency by leveraging the unique capabilities of Pure Storage and NetApp platforms (e.g., FlashBlade, NetApp AFF series, ONTAP Cloud, etc.). 2. Capacity Planning & Performance Optimization : - Lead storage capacity planning efforts for both Pure Storage and NetApp environments to ensure resources meet current and future business needs. - Monitor storage system performance using built-in tools (e.g., Pure1, NetApp OnCommand, Active IQ) and third-party monitoring tools, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues. - Conduct storage performance tuning, including adjusting storage policies, data tiering, and managing IOPS to meet application and business performance requirements. - Collaborate with the network and systems teams to ensure proper alignment between storage systems and virtualized infrastructure. 3. Disaster Recovery, Backup & Data Protection : - Implement disaster recovery (DR) strategies for both Pure Storage and NetApp environments, ensuring that data can be quickly restored in case of failure. - Manage and optimize data replication technologies (e.g., SnapMirror, SnapVault, Pure Storage ActiveCluster) for business continuity and high availability. - Ensure robust backup solutions are in place for both production and disaster recovery sites, leveraging NetApp Snapshots and Pure Storage's FlashRecover or similar solutions. - Design, implement, and regularly test DR and business continuity procedures for mission-critical data stored across Pure Storage and NetApp systems. 4. Data Security & Compliance : - Ensure data security and compliance with industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS) in Pure Storage and NetApp environments. - Implement data encryption at rest and in transit, ensuring sensitive data is protected at all times. - Work with the security team to establish and enforce storage access control policies, including role-based access control (RBAC) and audit logging. 5. Vendor Management & Strategy : - Serve as the primary point of contact for Pure Storage and NetApp vendors, managing relationships, service level agreements (SLAs), and ensuring optimal vendor performance. - Evaluate new storage technologies, solutions, and best practices from Pure Storage and NetApp and provide recommendations for improving the storage architecture. - Drive strategic initiatives to expand or upgrade the storage infrastructure, ensuring that both Pure Storage and NetApp solutions continue to meet the evolving needs of the organization. 6. Team Leadership & Development : - Lead, mentor, and develop a team of storage administrators and engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance. - Conduct regular performance reviews, provide coaching, and ensure team members have the necessary skills and resources to succeed in their roles. - Ensure the team remains up-to-date on the latest storage technologies, certifications, and best practices, encouraging continuous learning and professional development. 7. Troubleshooting & Incident Management : - Take ownership of critical storage incidents, leading troubleshooting efforts for issues related to Pure Storage, NetApp, and related storage systems. - Provide escalation support for complex issues and coordinate efforts across teams to resolve issues quickly. - Document incident reports, root cause analysis, and post-mortem reviews to continuously improve the storage environment.
