About the job Overview The IBM iSeries (AS/400) Support plays a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing the performance of the organization's AS/400 system. This position is vital for ensuring that all critical business applications run efficiently, thereby supporting operational processes. The specialist will work closely with the IT team to troubleshoot issues, manage user accounts, and implement system upgrades. They will be responsible for monitoring system performance and ensuring data integrity, which are essential for maintaining a stable working environment. Key Responsibilities : - Monitor and maintain IBM iSeries (AS/400) system performance. - Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues. - Perform regular system backups and data recovery tasks. - Implement system upgrades and patches to ensure optimal performance. - Assist users in operating the AS/400 system efficiently. - Manage user access and permissions within the iSeries system. - Document system processes and user procedures for training and reference. - Collaborate with IT teams on system enhancements and integrations. - Analyze system logs for performance analysis and reporting. - Provide technical support for applications hosted on the iSeries platform. - Conduct regular system health checks and audits. - Prepare and present system performance reports to management. - Support database management and data integrity checks. - Train users on new features and functionalities of the AS/400 system. Ensure compliance with organizational policies and security standards. Required Qualifications : - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. - Minimum 3 years of experience in IBM iSeries (AS/400) support. - Strong understanding of IBM OS/400 operating system. - Experience with system analysis and performance tuning. - Familiarity with RPG programming and database management. - Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols. - Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. - Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team setting. - Strong communication and documentation abilities. - Cognizance of data backup strategies and disaster recovery plans. - Ability to adapt to new technologies and tools. - Experience in user training and technical support. - Project management experience is a plus. - Certification in IBM iSeries technologies is an advantage. - Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality assurance. - Flexible and willing to work outside of standard hours if needed.
