Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Reservoir Engineer - Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) for our client who is a global leader in the energy sector. The Senior Reservoir Engineer will be responsible for leading reservoir modeling, simulation, and technical studies related to CCS projects. This role demands a combination of technical expertise, strategic insight, and project experience within the CCS domain to ensure safe, efficient, and effective CO₂ storage operations. The ideal candidate will have 10–15 years of experience in reservoir engineering within the oil and gas industry, with recent work focused on CCS. This role is based in Rome, Italy. Key Responsibilities: Reservoir Modeling & Simulation Develop and maintain detailed geological and dynamic reservoir models to support CO₂ injection and storage activities. Utilize advanced simulation tools to forecast reservoir performance, monitor CO₂ plume behavior, and optimize storage capacity. Integrate data from various disciplines to refine models and reduce uncertainties. Technical Studies & Analysis Lead technical studies related to CCS, including reservoir characterization, well placement, and injectivity analysis. Evaluate reservoir containment, integrity, and long-term monitoring plans for safe and compliant CO₂ storage. Collaborate with geoscientists, drilling engineers, and other stakeholders to support the safe and efficient design of injection wells and reservoir management. Project Development & Optimization Provide technical input and recommendations for CCS project development, from feasibility to execution and ongoing operations. Conduct risk assessments and scenario planning for potential CO₂ migration, reservoir performance, and project sustainability. Participate in cost optimization efforts through rigorous analysis of reservoir performance and predictive modeling. Compliance & Stakeholder Communication Ensure projects meet regulatory requirements and align with international standards and best practices in CCS. Present findings and insights to senior management, regulatory authorities, and cross-functional teams, offering data-driven recommendations. Act as a subject matter expert in CCS and provide guidance to junior engineers and technical teams. Qualifications: Experience: 10–15 years in reservoir engineering, with at least 3–5 years in CCS-specific projects within the oil and gas industry. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geosciences, or related field. Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) is preferred. Technical Skills: Proficiency in reservoir simulation software (e.g., Eclipse, Petrel RE, CMG) and CCS modeling tools. Strong knowledge of reservoir engineering principles and CCS-specific methodologies, including CO₂ storage mechanisms, containment, and monitoring. Proven experience in technical studies, reservoir characterization, and geomechanical analysis. Analytical Abilities: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and deliver actionable insights. Communication Skills: Effective communicator with the ability to present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Preferred Competencies: Experience with regulatory frameworks for CCS and environmental standards. Familiarity with risk management practices, well integrity, and subsurface containment analysis. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers. J-18808-Ljbffr
