Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Import Controller to join their dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage and coordinate import shipment activities, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, and customs requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for analysing import data, identifying compliance issues, and taking immediate corrective actions. This role requires exceptional communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

What you'll do:

• Manage and coordinate import shipment activities
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and customs requirements
• Analyse import data and identify compliance issues
• Coordinate the import process ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, and customs requirements
• Consult regularly with international suppliers, customs agents, and freight forwarders to ensure timely delivery of imported goods
• Monitor and track the movement of goods throughout the import process
• Prepare and submit all necessary documentation such as customs declarations, import permits, and shipping schedules
• Communicate regularly with clients providing updates on the status of their imported goods
• Collaborate with internal procurement and warehouse teams for smooth coordination of import activities
• Conduct thorough inspections of imported goods ensuring quality control and compliance with specifications
• Take proactive measures to mitigate potential risks and resolve any issues or delays that may arise during the import process

What you bring:

• Minimum a Diploma in Logistics or Supply Chain Management
• Sound knowledge of customs procedures, import regulations, and international trade practices
• Proficiency in SAP (Mandatory)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Minimum 5 years' experience as an Import Controller or similar role within the logistics industry
• Strong attention to accuracy and detail
• Exceptional communication skills
• Ability to make quick decisions and find solutions in challenging situations
