Who You Are
You are an experienced and strategic leader in statutory social work, skilled in managing complex cases, including court proceedings. You possess strong communication and organizational skills, with a proven ability to form and sustain effective partnerships with various agencies and stakeholders. You have solid expertise in supervising and developing social work staff to meet performance targets and practice standards. Your knowledge of legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and 2004, is robust, and you maintain an understanding of issues related to delivering innovative services for disabled children. Ideally, you are a competent IT user familiar with integrated children's systems. You hold a DIPSW or equivalent social work qualification with HCPC registration.
What the Job Involves
This role assists the team manager in overseeing the statutory social work service for disabled children and their families. You will manage the specialist social work duty service, allocate casework, and ensure assessments meet national standards. The role involves maintaining service delivery, promoting access to community life for disabled children, and safeguarding practices. You will work closely with internal and external entities to ensure an integrated strategic approach, deliver services reflecting diversity, and keep abreast of legislative changes. You provide specialist advice, supervise social workers, and may deputize for the Team Manager, handling resource allocation and participating in strategic planning meetings. Compliance with the Council's policies, including health and safety and information security, is essential. Additionally, you will promote equality, safeguard welfare, and engage in risk assessment training.
