DTDC - Lead Database Administrator - MySQL

The DBA Lead with MySQL Expertise will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of critical MySQL database systems. This role requires strong technical leadership to mentor a team of DBAs, ensuring the integrity, availability, and security of the organization's data. The successful candidate will collaborate with development teams, optimize database performance, and ensure operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities : Database Architecture & Design : - Design and implement scalable and highly available MySQL database solutions. - Collaborate with application development teams to understand data requirements and ensure optimal database performance. - Develop and enforce database standards, procedures, and best practices. Database Administration & Maintenance : - Install, configure, upgrade, and patch MySQL databases. - Monitor and address database performance issues proactively. - Implement backup and recovery procedures to safeguard data. - Ensure data integrity and security via access controls, encryption, and auditing. Performance Tuning & Optimization : - Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks. - Optimize queries and indexes for enhanced efficiency. - Continuously monitor and fine-tune database systems for optimal performance. Troubleshooting & Support : - Diagnose and resolve complex database-related issues. - Provide technical support to development teams. - Participate in an on-call rotation for critical database issues. Team Leadership & Mentorship : - Offer technical guidance and mentorship to the DBA team. - Delegate tasks effectively and foster a collaborative team environment. Required Skills & Qualifications : Technical Expertise : - Extensive experience in MySQL database administration (installation, configuration, performance tuning). - Strong knowledge of SQL and database design principles. - Experience with replication, clustering, and high availability solutions. - Familiarity with Linux/Unix operating systems. - Proficiency in scripting languages (e., Bash, Python) for automation. Leadership & Communication : - Proven leadership and mentoring experience in a technical setting. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills. - Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Education & Experience : - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. - 9 years of experience in MySQL database administration. - 3 years of experience in a team lead or supervisory role. - MySQL certifications are a plus.
