Location: Belfast However, there may be some travel required within Northern Irelandtofulfilthe duties associated with the post.Hybrid Options available. Hours of Work:37.5 hours per working week. Purpose of Assistant Accountant: To assist the Head of Finance and the Director of Finance to develop the Finance Department and ensure that all activities and functions of the Department are aligned with organisational priorities in order to deliver our Mission and Values. Main Responsibilities of Assistant Accountant General Requirements Ensure that risk management processes are compliedwithand risks are clearlyidentifiedand action to mitigate taken. Assisting the Head of Finance or Director of Finance to prepare Operational Costings reportsasrequired. Manage Purchase Ledger processing and payment of invoices. Assisting the Head of Finance to ensure all work is completed for payroll including pension andHMRCpaymentsina timelyandaccuratemanner. Manage the administration of the Finance accounting system Complete other tasks as directed by theHead of Finance or Director of Finance Deputise for the Head of Finance as required. Input into the development of new finance processes and policies Complete monthly finance processes, including: Produce and post monthly accruals and prepayments. Maintain Fixed Asset register and post depreciation. Review bank reconciliations. Prepare reconciliations for the monthly management accounts e.g. control and suspense account reconciliations. Reconcile Aged Creditors / Debtors reports with control accounts. Ensure all work is completed for the monthly management accounts to a timetable. Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts. Stakeholder Management: Answer queries from services. Work with other services / departments to ensure processesremainfit for purpose. Ensure financial information submitted by services / departments is processed promptly, accurately and within deadlines. Annual Processes: Assistin the preparation of annual budgets and distribution of budgeting information. Contribute to both the internal and external audit process. Essential Criteria: Minimum of 2 years experience working in a similar role in the Finance Department of an organisation with a turnover of at least £1 million. Minimum of 2 years experience of: (a)Month end processing/journals to bring to financial to stage of management accounts, (b)monthly reconciliation of control accounts and (c)contributingtoexternalauditprocesses. IntermediatelevelofcompetenceusingMicrosoftExcel Desirable Criteria: Knowledge of legislation and regulation relevant to organisations in the charity and social care sector.
