Design Engineer

GTC, who are part of the BUUK Infrastructure Group, are looking for a Design Engineer who would like to help us reach our mission of making lasting connections with our customers to improve their lives.

As the Design Engineer your key responsibilities are

Undertake Network demand calculations and design Points of Connection (POCs) from existing electric networks to provide technical solutions and quotations for 3rd party POC Applications.

Undertake Network export calculations for modelling of embedded generation applications on existing electric networks to assess and approve embedded generation applications in line with relevant Company Standards.

Undertake Network modelling where required for reinforcement designs, including where requirements to incorporate emerging technology.

Liaise with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), including other Independents, Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) and other departments on all aspects of design.

Implement and develop processes to internally communicate any technical and maintenance requirements for accepted projects.

About you

A Technical qualification in an engineering subject at either Level 2 City & Guild or equivalent.

Ideally would have on site experience with LV and HV assets, to provide technical solutions for 3rd party POC quotations.

Have membership at a recognised engineering institution.

Be familiar with current Legislation, Electrical Standards & Specifications and ENA Recommendations relating to GTC electrical networks and be aware of the implications to the safe management of electrical networks based on these procedures.

Excellent verbal communication skills.

Experience in designing electricity distribution networks.
