Job Description

We are looking for a Safety Engineer for one of our clients with the following details: Starting Date: October 2024 Renewable: 1 year, renewable Location: Italy in Contractor's office with missions to Iraq. Work Status: Resident Qualifications/Experience required We are looking for an experienced safety engineer who has already worked on acid gas projects. Professional Experience (years): >10 years in oil & gas projects. Experience in a similar position (years): 6 years at the same or equivalent position. Level / Diploma: Engineer or equivalent. Languages: English. Spirit of analysis, rigor, pragmatism. Team player with the ability to work collaboratively across complex project teams and interface between interdisciplinary departments and within an international team. Accountabilities Quality of the deliverables from EPC/DBOOM contractor. LLI's procurement and delivery at Site. Implementation of the Project HSSE policy and National Content Plan to meet the GPI IRAQ environment challenges. Construction of process systems as per agreed budget and planned schedule. Issue good quality of Close out report on EPC contractor performance. Activities During the EGEP Detailed Engineering Phase, the job holder supports the EGF Engineering manager during the detailed engineering phase. To ensure that all company requirements - as stated in the SOR, company technical safety specifications and requirements, and relevant international standards are adhered to at all times during the project. To oversee, review and where applicable approve documents related to contractor safety engineering; and to participate in various safety reviews such as: HAZID, HAZOP, HIPS Committee, etc. To participate in all Safety Studies and Risk Assessments for all Packages. The job holder ensures interfacing with all required other Project engineering disciplines as well as FOPS and ensures consistency with the overall upstream engineering work. The job holder participates as required in technical interfacing with other Company internal entities and external entities. Specific Responsibilities for Safety Engineer during Detail Engineering Phase: Be involved in all Safety studies or requirement definition of EGF. Ensure the safety engineering discipline & international norms and standards as well as Company rules (where applicable) are fully implemented during engineering execution. Be responsible for the quality review of safety discipline documentation, but also other related disciplines interface documents as applicable. Verify that comments are returned without delay and with the required quality. Contribute to the Safety Concept development during the detailed engineering phase, maintain updated at all times the Safety Concept with the latest engineering development. Continuously be involved in identification and technical discussions on AGUP 1, AGUP2, GMP interfaces. Provide overall guidance pertaining to safe work practices on safety in design, risk analysis, and hazard management within the project perimeter. Review and propose responses to letters, technical queries, deviation requests for project management approval. The job holder supports the preparation and participates in Project technical reviews, provides answers, and ensures timely implementation of the findings. Ensure proper reporting, highlight critical issues, and propose remedial actions. Specific Responsibilities during Construction Phase: Contribute and represent the Company for safety certification if required. Provide overall guidance pertaining to safe work practices on Safety in design, risk analysis, and hazard management within the project perimeter. Assist the Construction supervision team for their activities (such as procedures review) and the preparation of the pre-commissioning activities related to safety. Anticipate and facilitate all interfaces with the other disciplines. Same as any other external entity activities that may interfere with the safety discipline. Assist the Commissioning team for the preparation of the commissioning and start-up. Liaise with the Field operation team to assist in the issuance of the operating procedures. Lead the exchanges with HQ experts in case of any project derogation requests in safety discipline if applicable or any questions. Expedite DBOOM Contractor to issue deliverables with the right quality level and as per the approved MDRs. Assess on a regular basis the progress of DBOOM Contractors deliverables by reviewing the MDRS for his discipline. Participate in HAZOP / HAZID by CONTRACTOR, set up of action list and close-out process. Coordinate HQ Project Review preparation and manage responses as applicable to safety discipline. Review and comment on safety-related vendor documents and assist Engineering manager in technical problem-solving at all stages of work. Attend vendor meetings as required. Provide support to challenge the DBOOM contractors and promote alternative designs to optimize cost, work, and schedule. Review and comment on engineering documents and consolidate comments related to safety deliverables; liaise with other engineering disciplines (for ex. Mechanical rotating, Instrumentation, tech safety, and entity (Operations, HSE) as required. Ensure that the engineering activities related to safety matters are performed in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, international codes and standards for any installations with required level of quality, high HSE Standards, with respect to the Project's highly environmentally sensitive environment, and within the agreed time schedule and cost. If required, contribute to the studies leading to technical decision making and issue recommendations to the Project Management.
