Job title: Principal Independent Nuclear Assurance Engineer
Job Type: Permanent
Start date: ASAP - Subject to clearance
Duration: Permanent
Location: Barrow
Hours of work: 36 hours per week
Applicants must have experience of the following:
- Working knowledge of nuclear site licence conditions/authorisation conditions
- Experience of managing programmes of work within the nuclear industry or equivalent highly regulated industry
- Experience of engaging and influencing senior management and external regulators
Ideally applicants should also have:
- Degree or equivalent in STEM subject
- Experience in Audit & Regulation
- Nuclear plant operation experience
Role information:
- Perform independent inspection, surveillance and concurrence of nuclear work on facilities, plant, equipment and nuclear support services to evaluate the nuclear and radiological safety and security performance
- Inspect and assess the capability to progress the build and/or projects in the Site Redevelopment Programme
- Inspect works to ensure necessary level of compliance is achieved
- Communicate the conclusions of inspections and their findings to various stakeholders at all levels
- Independently assess the emergency arrangements exercises and provide feedback to those developing and maintaining the arrangements
- Ensure health and safety processes and procedures are understood and adhered to
- Oversee Independent Peer Review activities related to safety documentation aligned with individual Assurance Plans
- Develop, maintain and deploy an effective Operational Experience feedback system that encompasses all relevant nuclear and radiological incidents and events, from both internal and external sources
