Job Description
Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated Food Technology Teacher looking for a rewarding opportunity in education? Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a passionate individual to fill a crucial role as an Food Technology Teacher at a secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) located in Wigan. This exciting position is available to start in January 2025, offering a long-term to permanent placement for the ideal candidate.
The school is a Secondary Alternative Provision in Wigan which provides full time education for 90 pupils who are not able to access mainstream education.
The role would involve teaching all aspects of English across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 classes. Due to the nature of the setting, class sizes are small, with a maximum of 7/8 pupils in each classroom, with at least 2 support staff on hand in each classroom too.
Newly qualified or recently qualified teachers / ECTs are welcome to apply for this role, with capacity in school to support through induction period.
The school has an inclusive philosophy and believe passionately in ensuring that all pupils are given the opportunities, skills, knowledge and qualifications to ensure that they are able to reintegrate back into mainstream education or on to specialist provision, further education employment or training.
They recognise that their pupils are individuals and that "one size does not fit all". They also understand that many of their pupils have not had a positive experience of education and believe it is their role to re-engage them with their learning, improve relationships and broaden their opportunities.
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable, but not essential
Demonstrable experience and passion for teaching Food Technology
Ability to engage and inspire students in a PRU setting
Are able to demonstrate resilience, patience and a positive approach to behaviour management
Strong subject knowledge and the ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual student needs
Fully enhanced DBS check
The pay scale for this position is in line with the Main Pay Scale (MPS) / Upper Pay Scale (UPS), offering a competitive salary based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
